“It's over,” actor Norman Reedus wrote from his Instagram profile to say goodbye to Daryl Dixon, the character he played for The Walking Dead since his debut in 2010. He was joined by other members of the team to say goodbye to this long story on the small screen that hosted an extensive cast and took them to a post-apocalyptic world unleashed by a zombie virus.

11 seasons 12 years. I had never been so beaten and it was an absolute wonder. Thanks to everyone who took this trip with us and what a trip it was,” Reedus added in the message where he also included an old video with Melissa McBride (Carol Peletier) and a photograph with Michael Rooker (Merle Dixon, Daryl's brother). For her part, Lauren Cohan said: “I don't have the words right now, but I want to raise my glass for The Walking Dead team. Thank you. 11 seasons My heart is full.”

Showrunner Angela Kang also shared a video of her and Cohan and thanked the fans well wishes for those who were part of this “incredible” journey. The Walking Dead's own official Twitter account also shared some memories of past photos of the cast and how the cast changed over the seasons.

“Today (March 30) is the big day! The shooting of The Walking Dead is coming to an end. It's been an incredible 12 years and we hope that all the amazing cast and crew will have a fantastic farewell day. The Walking Dead family forever!” , is read in the publication.

The third and final part of the final season has finished recording, and will soon be broadcast to the United States through AMC and will be available for Latin America from the Star+ platform. In February of this year, the weekly broadcast of the episodes corresponding to the second part of this installment began and which, it is remembered, will not be the end yet.

The Walking Dead will stand with spin-offs

On the verge of closing, the adaptation of Robert Kirkman's comics will not die completely and will stay alive in the same style as the walkers in fiction. The television projects that still stand are Tales of The Walking Dead, Isle of the Dead, Fear The Walking Dead and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. The first two starring characters we already knew in the original story such as Daryl, Maggie and Negan; and the last two were derived productions with different characters and set in other spaces or times.

The walker universe will also take a leap into the cinema with a film centered on Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), who did not die in the narrative of the mother fiction and whose whereabouts are the greatest mystery of all. It is possible that Danai Gurira will also resume her role as Michonne, after last appearing in this role in 2020.

Part 3 of season 11 of The Walking Dead does not yet have an official release date, but it is known that it will arrive sometime this year through Star+.
