Peru beat Paraguay 2-0 with goals from Gianluca Lapadula and Yoshimar Yotún last Tuesday, March 29 at the National Stadium in Lima for the last date of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers.

The Peruvian national team won a win and scored three decisive points to qualify for the 2022 Qatar World Cup repechage. The bicolor scored 24 points and secured fifth place in the standings of the qualifiers, which gave a place to the World Cup Repechage.

The international television signal broadcast the Peru vs Paraguay match with the opposite angle to the images on Peruvian TV.

The first goal for the Peruvian national team was scored by the attacker Gianluca Lapadula after a long pass by midfielder Christian Cueva. The play began with a pass from the field of the steering wheel Renato Tapia, who gave in to Cueva, which was shaped towards the Paraguayan goal after crossing the center line.

At the third second touch of Cueva, Edison Cueva began the course heading to the area as a second striker. Also the Italian-Peruvian striker ran between the two rival defenders occupying the position of '9′.

Christian Cueva shot the long pass accurately and the first boat of the ball went close to the penalty spot inside the Paraguayan area. In the images from the opposite angle, it can be seen that the tip of the ball disaccommodates Lapadula, but it turns to the right side to finish with difficulty. The shot hits the post and 'Bambino' returns to play with a quick reaction as he entered the goal after the rebound.

In the second goal of the Peruvian national team, we can see midfielder Yoshimar Yotún who starts the attacking play for the right sector and rejoins the offensive position at the first clearance of the Paraguayan defense.

Christian Cueva controls the ball and Yoshimar Yotún raised his hand from the edge of the opponent's area. 'Aladino' eludes his brand with a 'hat' and gives way to Edison Flores who was within the Guaraní area.

As soon as Flores receives the ball and projects to throw the center, Yotún enters the area and occupies the empty and free space on the edge of the small area.

Yoshimar Yotún stops his speedy career when the pink ball is in the Paraguayan defender and is suspended in the air to hit the ball with a 'scissor' with his right leg. Then, the image accompanies' Yoshi 'in his celebration with the grandstand.

The Peruvian national team will be the representative of the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) in the repechage to the Qatar 2022 World Cup and awaits its rival from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Australia and the United Arab Emirates entered phase 4 of the Asian Qualifiers and in a single match they will define their move to the World Cup Repechage with Peru.

Phase 4 of the Asian Qualifiers will be played between Australia and the United Arab Emirates on 6 and 7 June in Qatar, a week later (13 or 14 June) the World Cup Repechage to Qatar 2022 will be played.

RICARDO GARECA'S ANALYSIS

The coach of the Peruvian national team analyzed the bicolor qualification to the World Cup Repechage and valued the performance of his players during the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers.

“The key was the uptick we had during the qualifying round, from the middle to the front. We didn't start well but the rally was important and gave us the chance to access the repechage. I want to congratulate the boys for qualifying on the last date for the repechage. Now it is to know the rival, we are going to be aware of who is our turn. I think we will have enough time, although it will be a difficult opponent. We are all looking to get to Qatar, but the most important thing now is to try to be with the family, that the players return to the rhythm, that the boys with problems recover and thus arrive in an important way,” said Ricardo Gareca.
