Martín Arredondo gave an interview to Amor y Fuego on March 30, where he defends himself against Mónica Cabrejos's accusations and denies that he sexually harassed her. He also clarified that it was not he who invited the journalist to the cinema, but she and as a witness she has Marco Rodríguez, then a member of the production of Public Enemies, since it was also that day. These words did not fall on deaf ears, the one involved soon came out to respond and far from supporting him he expressed his solidarity to Mónica Cabrejos.
The former production assistant indicated that everything the journalist says is true, as she told her about it years ago. He also referred to that outing to the movies, where he indicates that Monica asked Martín Arredondo out, the witness points out that this is not true, because everyone who knows Monica knows how stingy she is, so such a statement by Arredondo would be ruled out.
“Mónica's friends know that she is a devotee of the virgin of the fist and that it is IMPOSSIBLE for her to pay for the tickets of three people on a Sunday (the most expensive day) at the UVK cinema in Larcomar (...) That very stingy person is the one who would now supposedly pay the invitation to the most expensive cinema in Lima on a Sunday. It sounds funny, but it's obvious that Monica wouldn't do it,” said Marco Rodríguez, who said he was not going to shut up anything.
He also pointed out that he does not know that Martín is a stalker, but he does know that he is not a good person and less a good leader. “I don't know if he's a stalker. I don't know. But what is clear to me is that she is a bad leader, a bad friend and a bad person,” she said on her Facebook account.
Marco Rodriguez also responded to the producer's defense. “I think all people are innocent until proven guilty. But if you are going to defend yourself, first think about whether the people you are going to put as witnesses will support what you say,” he said.
“How ugly it feels to have to prove that you didn't do something, right? I had to go through the same thing when I decided to leave a space (because I left, nobody threw me out) in which I no longer felt comfortable and in which there were things that someone said that weren't true. I know what it feels like. I lived it in my own flesh. I don't celebrate what happens to that man. But at some point in life our actions don't take the toll”, he added.
HE CALLS HIM A BAD PERSON
At another time, he explained why Martín Arredondo seemed like a “bad person” to him. Marco says that at that time when he was working in Public Enemies there was a period when he fell into depression, and after being the product of sexual abuse his body changed and his sweating was very strong. Far from asking him what was wrong with him, the production member says that Martín criticized him and told his colleagues that he smelled bad and no longer worked the same way.
“(Aldo Miyashiro) He told me that he asked Martín Arredondo why (I wasn't on the team) and he replied that he didn't love me anymore because I didn't work the same way, that I had problems with my body, that I smelled bad, that I was going to work in a state that seemed drugged or drunk,” he explained.
SUPPORT MONICA CABREJOS
Finally, he appreciated the supportive comments and responded to those who asked him why he decided to speak just now. “It was an impulse. A friend needs backup. It was the least I could do. Arm myself with courage and say what I went through. I invite you to read the book by Mònica Cabrejos. All the things she tells me were told twelve years ago or I lived with her. Nothing that counts, he hasn't told me before. That's why I can attest that they happened. I can't say with which people, but I can tell that the events happened. Here I am to say everything I know and what I saw when necessary,” he concluded.
