The 31-year-old actor reportedly gave the Supreme Court of Justice his resignation, to the terms enshrined in the extradition procedure, so that he could be expedited to that country, where he faces charges of gender-based violence, which indicate that he physically assaulted his former romantic partner, the mother of his daughter and other women who did have denounced.
Cataño Elizondo is recognized for having appeared in the Netflix series “Narcos” and “Duck Season”. He is currently being held in La Picota prison, Bogotá, in the extraditable ward. The latter, after Judge 34 of Mexico's federal district accusatory system issued an arrest warrant, but, the actor was in Italy shooting a film; when he arrived in Colombia and noticed that the authorities were looking for him, he presented a false French passport.
In addition to his craft, the actor is recognized as the half-brother of Nicolás Cuarón, son of the renowned Mexican director, winner of two Oscar awards, Alfonso Cuarón.
In 2019, she had spoken in the Los Angeles Times on the subject, as it was exposed within the #MeToo feminist movement in addition to the complaints against her, at that time “decided to break the silence” and said:
He added that at that time he lost all his money, so he could not “enforce the law on both sides”, since they prevented him from seeing his daughter, the only approach he had was when he had to deposit the maintenance pension.
Almost a year after his arrest, and after requesting his prompt extradition, he was notified through Tatiana García Correa, director of international affairs of the Prosecutor's Office, that his arrest warrant had been canceled for extradition purposes, says El Tiempo.
The media adds that this annulment comes after an incident with lawyer Derly Tatiana Calderón Márquez, with which acts of influence trafficking were committed, using the name of a magistrate without authorization.
For the time being, the actor will continue to be detained in La Picota, pending the determination of the Colombian justice system, since when Mexico's request for extradition was withdrawn, he would have no legal grounds to remain deprived of liberty in the country.
