With 71 votes in favor, 32 against and 13 abstentions, the Congress of the Republic decided that Hernán Condori will no longer be in charge of the Ministry of Health (Minsa) . The doctor did not last two months in office because of the serious accusations against him.

“The motion of censure has been approved. Consequently, this agreement shall be communicated to the President of the Republic, in order to comply with the provisions of article 132 of the Political Constitution of Peru and article 86 (b) of the rules of procedure of the Congress of the Republic,” said Maria del Carmen Alva, Speaker of Parliament.

After confirming Condori's departure, government and opposition parliamentarians spoke out, in addition to other politicians linked to the Pedro Castillo government, who has three days to appoint his replacement in Minsa.

AGAINST CONDORI'S DEPARTURE

Vladimir Cerrón — Leader of Free Peru

“It censors the Minister of Health, despite his clear disclaimers, brings to light the economic interests that are at stake between the caviarada that defends its consultancies and the right wing that defends its oligopolies. The government must have the right to choose its successor without distorting its mission,” he wrote on his Twitter.

Edgar Tello — Congressman of Free Peru

“Sectors of the right and sectors linked to caviars do not want anything to be changed. That is why they have taken the position of censoring the Minister of Health. He (Hernán Condori) is a doctor, unlike other governments that have had historians, economists, biologists, but the Medical College has not said anything about them, but when there is a provincial doctor, they question him harshly,” he told Canal N.

“As part of the Peru-Libre bank, we want you to take on a professional in the sector, as there has been, so we should ask the benches that have raised censorship what profile should the next Minister of Health have? Or what is your candidate?” , he continued.

IN FAVOR OF CONDORI'S DEPARTURE

Diego Bazán — Congressman of Avanza Pais

“This was not a triumph for the bench, but a triumph for the country. We considered Mr. Condori's presence one more minute in the ministry untenable, in that regard, I thank the 71 brave parliamentary colleagues who voted in favor of this censorship, which was just and necessary,” he told Canal N.

“There must be people who have the technical and professional capacity, as well as experience in public management, but not tainted by investigations that ultimately make their professional careers suspicious” In that sense, we hope that he will be a doctor, who has the level and height, and that he will solve the issue of vaccination in general, not only the COVID-19 issue,” he added.

Katy Ugarte — Congressman of Free Peru

“It must be clearly stated in this regard that it is a share of power of Mr. Vladimir Cerrón's companions. I think that this is also hurting these proposals that are not so suitable and I hope that for change it will be a good proposal, that it has a good profile. We suggest that the teachers block make this change,” he told RPP.

“We have clearly told the president that today more than ever he can't go wrong again. Nor can you hear pressure with characters who don't have the profile and who are not suitable for the position, and who make a good filter that we are going to be sneaking around seeing this aspect to avoid this type of conflict,” he said.

Carlos Anderson — Podemos Congressman

“Congress has just censored the most reprehensible minister of the 46 ministers of these eight months. Not because she came from the farm, not because of her judicial problems, not because she took advantage of the weak situation of a sick girl. Yes, because of all that and more. You can't play with health,” he tweeted.

Edward Málaga — Ungrouped Congressman

“The president didn't have the will to improve the cabinet and Congress didn't have the courage to deny him trust. The audit will be minister by minister. We will now see if the president makes at least the effort to demonstrate that he has the moral capacity to appoint a suitable minister,” Malaga posted on his social networks.

Patricia Chirinos — Congressman of Avanza Pais

“Peru's economic, social and moral health is in emergency, and yet Castillo appointed a Minister of Health who puts everyone to shame. That is why today Congress fulfills its role. We censor it and protect the country from further improvisation by Pedro Castillo's government of corruption,” he wrote on your Twitter.
