Arturo Vidal was one of the hardest hit by the Chilean elimination on the last date of the Qatar 2022 Qualifiers. Their selection depended on other results to win the repechage, but this was not the case and Peru will play the match for a place at the World Cup. At the end of the match with Uruguay he gave harsh statements.

By the end of the first half, Peru was already beating Paraguay 2-0 in Lima, which left both Chile and Colombia without options. The 'King' saw what was happening with Ricardo Gareca's and was very sad, because they missed their second consecutive World Cup event.

“A lot of sadness. It was difficult, clearly we weren't dependent on us. In the first half, the results of Peru and Colombia were known. A very sad Playoffs process is over. We should have had other results. The schedule was super tough for us,” Arturo Vidal started for TNT Sports.

“In the end we had two teams that were already qualified (Brazil and Uruguay). They played very relaxed. Uruguay played very relaxed. If the two had to fight for a qualification, it would have been different,” added the Inter Milan player.

“I don't know (if the golden generation ends). We hope to continue. I'm going to go as far as I can, and if my friends are okay, they'll do it too. We must also assume that the other teams are improving. We've had a 12-15 year wear that's been tough. People appreciate it,” he launched.

“The teacher (Martin Lazarte) has done a good job. The change that occurred (the departure of Reinaldo Rueda) as coach was very difficult. I think it affected all of us. If the teacher continues, it will be good because he already knows us. You're going to have time to work and look for new talent,” he said.

“Chilean football has to improve a lot, start taking players out to Europe. Or else we're going to keep falling for this. The weight of the greats is no longer reaching to qualify for a World Cup and this qualifier was noticed”, he said.

“We must also improve the national championship. They're at a very low level. You can see in international competitions that they cannot pass the first round (Copa Libertadores), and that tells you everything,” Arturo Vidal closed.
