The national territory recorded a significant decrease in the number of infections, not exceeding the figure of a thousand cases during the last week. This has been evidenced by people's attendance at vaccination points. This was informed by the president of the Colombian Association of Home Health Institutions, Adriana Forero, to Caracol Radio, informing that nearly 70% of attendance at vaccination points enabled in shopping centers in Bogotá has been reduced.

President Forero spoke to the radio about the current flow of people going to immunization and the future of minors regarding a possible reinforcement: “At the time of peak demand Bogotá placed 70,000 doses of vaccines a day, an indicator that today is between 16,000 and 17,000, which makes it unfeasible to maintain many points open. However, on Friday, the national PMU approved reinforcement in children and young people over 12 years old with Pfizer and we hope that this will reactivate the process.”

According to the president of the Colombian Association of Home Health Institutions, the capital has the capacity to apply 20,000 doses per day, so the demand for EPS and IPS is reviewed. It was also announced that until tomorrow, March 31, the vaccination tent located in the Gran Estación shopping center will be in operation due to low demand.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health reported that on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, there were 301 new cases of covid-19 in Colombia. In the last few hours, 23,971 tests were processed, of which 7,917 are PCR and 16,054 are antigen tests.

The report also notes that 10 Colombians died of the disease in the last day. In this way, the country reaches a total of 139,595 deaths due to the virus since the start of the pandemic.

By aggregating all the figures, Colombia reached a total of 6,084,240 infections, of which 4,219 are active cases and 5,917,334 correspond to positive cases that have already managed to overcome the disease.

The most recent report from the Ministry of Health also points out that as of 11:59 on Sunday, March 27, 2022, a total of 80,573,164 doses of the vaccine against covid-19 had already been applied in Colombia.

According to the same report, the number of Colombians with the complete vaccination schedule, that is, those who have already received the two doses of the biological, currently amounts to 28,404,994 people, while 6,325,026 people have been immunized with single doses. Also, 10,228,131 booster doses have been applied.

Similarly, during the last day, a total of 41,567 vaccines were applied, of which 13,665 were for the second injection, while another 1,812 were single-dose.

This will be the application of the booster dose for children under 12 to 17 years old

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection announced that from March 28, the population aged 12 to 17 in the country will be able to access the booster dose against covid-19. The Deputy Minister of Public Health and Service Provision, Germán Escobar, resolved some doubts regarding the third inoculation of minors and the process that will be carried out.

The decision to enable the third dose to this population group came after the Advisory Committee on Vaccines welcomed the recommendation of a group of experts. The Ministry explained that it is constantly looking for scientific evidence to make this type of determination and meets frequently with experts who are part of the Colombian Consensus for the Management of Covid-19.

Evidence showed that the population between 12 and 17 years old would increase their antibodies against covid-19 after receiving the booster dose. “That protection that the person has against the virus, and that this increase achieves greater protection against the most circulating variant omicron,” Escobar argued.
