Two dead left an accident in the vicinity of the North Terminal in Medellin

Tragic accident on the heights of Terminal del Norte in Medellin. A bus, which apparently had suffered a mechanical failure, so it collided with a taxi, a motorcycle and hit three workers at a construction site who were carrying out repairs on the road and who had permission from the Mobility Secretariat. The events were recorded in the early hours of this Wednesday, March 30, 2022. At the moment, the death of two people who were involved in the accident has been confirmed.

On the railway track of the North Terminal, events occurred in which a transport vehicle of the Copetran company first hit with a taxi that was in the center lane and later on the people who were making the adjustments on the tracks. The bus took the people who were on the spot ahead, as well as a backhoe and other items that were on the spot.

The authorities arrived at the scene, as well as some support networks to respond to the emergency. One of the workers lost his life instead, while the other two people were transferred to care centers, however, one of them lost his life due to the severity of his injuries and despite the efforts of health professionals who tried to save his life.

Medellin Traffic Agents attended to the accident that was reported on the road where the buses leave, under the bridge that connects the North Terminal with the Medellín Metro. The authorities revealed some of the details of what happened and in which two people lost their lives.

Jhon Jairo Vélez, deputy commander of Tránsito de Medellín, referred to what happened in the early morning of this March 30 and assured that, “the traffic incident that occurred today morning at approximately 4.30 a.m. in the sector of the 64th race between 78th and 89th streets, this sector of the North Terminal, railway area, leaves as balance of two deceased persons, two males aged 59 and 29”

“A bus-type vehicle, a taxi, a motorcycle, a backhoe and a bobcat are involved. These vehicles were there in a work that is being carried out and authorized by the Ministry of Mobility. We regret to report the death of these two people, it is important to always preserve security measures, look at traffic regulations and avoid possible incidents such as today's,” said Jhon Jairo Vélez, Deputy Commander of Transit of Medellín.

With regard to the people who died in the road accident, one of them lost his life at the scene of the events, while the other person was taken to Pablo Tobón Hospital, however he died in the care center due to the seriousness of the injuries caused by the car. The third person who was injured in the accident was treated by health personnel from the Mayor's Office of Medellín. It is also important to note that the bus did not have passengers at the time of the accident.
