This Tuesday, March 29, President Iván Duque went to the factory of businessman Mario Hernández to award him with the Order of Boyacá, one of the highest awards given by the Government of Colombia to citizens working for the country.

The events were immortalized on the official Twitter account of the owner of one of the largest fashion, footwear and leather empires in the country.

In a short speech, Duque thanked Hernández for his more than 40 years of business experience in Colombia, where he has contributed to the country's economy, as well as the employability of hundreds of citizens.

“He likes to call himself the flea arrecha, I would rather say the innovative, transforming, entrepreneurial, patriotic flea,” said the head of state when highlighting the 80-year-old businessman. In addition, he filled him with other praise.

Once the president gave the distinction to the Santanderean, he thanked him and said that Duque “was an excellent president. Too bad we can't re-elect him,” he said. To that particular idea, the head of state responded laughing and said: “Let's see if later”.

“You're going to go down in history because of everything you've done. You had the most difficult time and look how you have faced it,” said the businessman, in turn who embraced him.

In the same way, Hernández showed him the medal that the president gave him and, again, thanked him for the appointment. “Thank you President Duque for the cross of Boyacá. This commits me more to working for a better country for all,” he said.

The businessman has also made himself known for his political views. In fact, a few days ago he assured that Federico Gutiérrez will be the next president of Colombia. The man made the statement on his Twitter account, once the results of the interparty consultations that made the former mayor of Medellín the winner of the Team for Colombia consultation known.

It should be noted that since the campaign, Hernández had assured that Gutiérrez would be the winner of the consultations. The week before the elections, the businessman published a montage with a photo of Federico Gutiérrez in which he is seen wearing the tricolor flag crossed on his chest. This is the image that presidents take as soon as they begin their terms of office.

Likewise, Hernández invited him to his leather goods plant and told him that “when he is president, look at everything there is to think about the industry” and reminded him that he must protect the private sector.

While it is true that Gutiérrez has a chance of reaching Casa de Nariño, so far nothing can be taken for granted. The former mayor of Medellín won the Team's consultation for Colombia with more than 2.1 million votes, but this figure is doubled by Gustavo Petro, winner of the Historical Pact consultation, who won more than 4.4 million votes.
