Library is the recently announced tool for TikTok. This is a creative 'set' that allows users to use clips and animations, with or without sound, directly from the GIPHY platform. This way, new content can now be inserted into TikTok videos.
This new feature also allows you to use high-quality content from major platforms. Among them are HBO, ABC, Hulu, Xbox and The Roku Channel. That is, you can access this with GIPHY Clips, a type of GIF with added sound/audio.
According to a statement from GIPHY itself, Library is a feature that “unlocks a new category of entertainment content”.
With it, they seek to get users to “comment, debate or make parodies, and allow more content creators to participate or start their own trends,” as the company explained in the official statement.
For its part, this new GIPHY library will gradually reach all users over the next few weeks. Initially, Android device owners will be the first to receive it this week; while iOS users will start getting the new feature a few days afterwards.
“When we created the Clips library, people were already consuming more audio content. They were broadcasting shows on mobile and quickly moved to platforms like TikTok, where audio drives creativity. This type of partnership has been our star of the north since the beginning, as Clips are designed for people to see, use and share, and TikTok is a perfect platform for that,” said Cam Smith, Vice President of Product at GIPHY.
Step by step to use GIPHY Clips in TikTok Library
GIPHY provided a guide to show how to access your clips even before the feature was released. It only takes a few simple steps to be able to use your favorite content in videos.
Keep in mind that the features that will be covered below may not appear in your TikTok app. After all, it is something that is currently being integrated and may not be currently available on mobile devices.
1. Enter the TikTok app.
2. Go to the recording screen.
3. Here, locate yourself in the sidebar of tools.
4. Tap the new Library icon that appears in the last place.
5. Once logged in, you can now use the trending content from the home page. GIPHY also offers a search bar if you want to use something specific.
6. Once you have chosen what you want, it's time to select the desired length and you just have to go back to the camera screen to start recording with the new Clip.
A new feature that users wanted and requested from TikTok
While this may seem like a strange addition, the truth is that GIPHY clips have quite a future on TikTok.
After all, users of the platform can use all the tools that the app had to offer. In this way, they have made series like Euphoria a real success, so it's no surprise that HBO has also made it to GIPHY Clips.
Lydia Getachew, director of business development at GIPHY, commented: “This is my favorite integration we've made with TikTok to date.”
The executive believes that both companies have something in common, and that is to offer users a safe space to express themselves through “microentertainment”.
