On the morning of December 15, 2021, the President of Colombia, Iván Duque signed the decree that determined the increase of 10.7% in the minimum wage for workers in 2022, which, after the presidential sanction, stood at $1,000,000 (one million pesos), plus the transport subsidy that will amount to $117,172 pesos.

During the signing, several of the members of the national cabinet, as well as the leaders of the workers' federations, stressed that this year the bid to approve the minimum wage was not extended for several days, which allowed a consensus between the different parties. It should be noted that this has not happened since 2011 during one of the governments of Juan Manuel Santos.

At the event, which took place early in the day at Casa de Nariño, Iván Duque stressed that this year's minimum wage increase was a historical event for the country and would be part of the ideology of supposed social policies that it seeks to encourage before leaving power.
