Eduardo Yáñez is recognized not only for being a “soap opera hunk”, but for his constant controversies and this is no exception. Well, people from the LGBT+ community and social media users lashed out at the actor when they learned about his performance as a trans woman in the new series My uncle from Prime Video.
And it is that, one of the biggest disagreements that arose on the part of Internet users was due to the lack of representativeness that trans people themselves have in this type of audiovisual products.
“Is this chili @primevideomx? what verg*s. Eduardo Yáñez will play a trans woman in the series #Mitio How about using a trans woman? What if we raise signatures? Here more info and apparently he will own an LGBT+ club. As much as I see it, I don't understand, I insist, I think it's not the best decision in terms of representation, anyway,” was the tweet that quickly went viral and started a debate about the performance of the protagonist of Destilando Amor.
Something in which several Twitter users agreed that beyond deepening or taking trans people seriously, one of the reasons why Yáñez could be selected for the role could be as a way to get him out of his traditional characters.

“I think the reason that Eduardo Yáñez is how disruptive it is to see a male symbol of Telenovela like Eduardo Yáñez, not so much the inclusion of having a trans character in a series where he owns a gay club. It's a joke (sic),” wrote one Twitter user.
In addition, other netizens pointed out that the problem of the series was not only in the actor's participation, but that it was even more at the root of the series. They also delved into the fact that these types of situations are what contribute to society in general having people from the LGBT+ community within certain stereotypes.

“Then any pelotudx tells you: 'trans women are men dressed as women' and how do you explain that no, if the visibility they are given on television is that. They have me fed up. Was it so hard for them to hire a trans woman for the role?” , placed one more Internet user.
It should be noted that according to what Eduardo Yáñez recently declared during an interview with Chismorreo, his character is a “former rocker who, when he was a rocker, abused girls a lot. He gets married, he has this daughter, the wife abandons them and he has to educate his daughter. So when he analyzes this whole situation, he despises himself as a man for all that he has done against women and decides to be a good mother to his daughter, she becomes a woman and begins to educate her daughter in the most appropriate way.”

He also mentioned for this program that it was the writer Guillermo Arriaga who urged him to wear women's underwear to “enter” the role, which seemed to be a key point for the actor.
“I went to eat with him and the first thing he said to me: 'Have you already bought women's underwear? Are you already using it? ' When he made that suggestion, I said, 'This is the key to the character. ' I told him about this project and I wanted his advice, and he said: 'To every mother, why don't you start here? ' And yes, they bought me clothes,” he said.
