For four months, the Sijín of the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá conducted an investigation, with which it finally managed to find the whereabouts of three people named to be part of the band 'Los Tóxicos' dedicated to theft, which operated mainly in the center and north of the capital.
The band members approached people who were alone or in groups to remove their belongings, but burned them and left them partially blinded, because they were sprayed with a chemical agent.
Apparently, more than 20 people were harmed by the ruthless manner in which criminals threw themselves at them, in order to take away their personal belongings.
According to an investigation by Noticias Caracol, following the location of the alleged robbers, the victims were able to identify them, and that was how they proceeded with their arrest.
“They are fixed in a hotel (in downtown Bogotá) and they consume substances there, they are there until approximately 11 or 11:30 at night, and they start for the Chapinero sector,” a researcher who commanded the operation told the news.
The criminals mentioned are known as the Devil, 'Antonella' and 'la Mona', who dressed up to change their appearance and used different kinds of wigs to mislead the authorities and people who were victims of their criminal actions.
For its part, the Prosecutor's Office indicated that it “charged the offences of injury with chemical agents, aggravated classified theft and a concert to commit offences. These charges were not accepted by any of the defendants.” The three people captured were sent to prison.
Likewise, in the investigations of the authorities, they revealed that, in one night, between six and seven cell phones were stolen, in addition, that alias la Diabla would be the most dangerous, since it was the one who sprayed acid on people who were going to steal their belongings.
One of the victims told Noticias Caracol that: “Four subjects dressed as women, transvestites, approached us to ask us for money. We said we didn't have it and they cornered us near the platform and got a little more hostile saying how could we have no money.”
In addition, he explained that, that would have happened at 11:00pm or so, in the town of Chapinero, race 13 with calle 60. “Some transsexual subjects approach me and throw that chemical directly into my eyes to steal my cell phone and wallet,” said one of the victims.
The researchers narrated that “they fix themselves in a hotel and consume substances there. They leave until approximately 11:00 or 11:30 at night, and they start for the Chapinero sector.”
He also confirmed that they used different wigs every day and that in a single night they managed to steal between 6 or 7 cell phones.
Another case of people affected was that of David Nieto, who was given a substance to try to rob him after he left a bar, was another of the victims, as well as a 22-year-old woman who was assaulted by a group of criminals in the center of the capital, when he left a nightclub with her partner.
