The UN condemned the wave of terrorist attacks in Israel

UN Secretary General António Guterres on Wednesday condemned the recent wave of terrorist attacks in Israel, which have claimed the lives of 11 people, and demanded an immediate end to the violence.

“These acts of violence can never be justified and must be condemned by all,” Guterres said via Twitter and a statement read by his spokesman, Stéphane Dujarric.

The head of the United Nations extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for those injured in those attacks.

In addition, he called for “an immediate end to violence, which only serves to undermine the prospects for peace” in the Middle East, especially as religious holidays for Muslims, Jews and Christians approach, which this year will coincide in mid-April.

Israel has been the scene in recent days of three attacks that have left 11 people dead and put the security forces on high alert.

For more than a decade, there have not been so many deaths in such a short period of time as a result of attacks in Israel, which on this occasion have been condemned both by the country's authorities and by the Palestinian president, Mahmud Abbas, while they have been celebrated by the Islamist factions that control the Gaza Strip.

The most recent attack took place yesterday in the ultra-Orthodox city of Bnei Brak, where five people were shot dead by a Palestinian.

Last Sunday, two Arab-Israelis killed two policemen in the northern city of Hadera, and last week, a Bedouin from a village near the southern city de Beersheva killed four civilians in this city.

Both attacks were claimed by the terrorist group Islamic State (ISIS), which has not happened so far in connection with yesterday's shooting.
