The Peruvians and their overflowing joy: this was the dawn after Peru's victory and qualification for the repechage

Peruvian fans celebrated all night and early in the morning Peru's victory against the Paraguayan national team, which secured the country a place in the repechage for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Thus, the streets of this Wednesday, March 30, a day later, dawned calmer; but with indications of what the night celebration was like.

Bottles of liquor and some red and white products could be seen on the streets of Lima, where thousands of fans took to the streets to celebrate.

In Kennedy Park, in Miraflores, the party was all the rage. The fans simply took over the district to show their joy in the face of the 2-0 victory, by La Blanquirroja. Thus, in the morning you could still see some bottles of liquor; but for the most part the streets were cleaned and you could already see people who play sports outdoors running in the morning.

This is because the Municipality of Miraflores decided to evict the sea of fans after midnight, since many had drunk a lot of alcohol and it was better for them to return home. This is both in Kennedy Park and in La Calle de las Pizzas (San Ramón). The police had to close the roads.

At three o'clock in the morning, the troops began to clear the runway. However, some small groups continued to drink on the benches in the park.

At 4:30 a.m., a TV Peru reporter went to the scene and was able to record the greatest tranquility on the streets. Even so, there is no doubt that the excitement will continue until that next match arrives in June, where the entry to the Qatar 2022 World Cup will be played once and for all.

THE OTHER SIDE: CARELESSNESS AND GARBAGE IN THE STREETS

Without a doubt, those who had a lot of work this morning were the cleaning staff of the Municipality of Miraflores. The celebration and the passage to the repechage lasted until 5 am this Wednesday, with some people having passed the cups and the streets with beer bottles and garbage.

The party continued in the parks next to the National Stadium and in the nearby venues with alcoholic drinks and lots of music. In several cases, people were without masks, not complying with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

PLAYOFF TABLE

The Peruvian national team beat Paraguay 2-0 and qualified for the World Cup Repechage on the road to Qatar 2022 after taking fifth place in the standings. The white-roja depended on herself and with the victory sealed her pass to the repechage.

Uruguay's national team beat Chile 2-0 in Santiago with goals from Luis Suarez and Federico Valverde. La Celeste finished in third place in the Playoffs table with 28 points.

For its part, Ecuador equalized 1-1 with Argentina at home, losing a position with 26 points and ranked fourth in the standings.

Colombia beat Venezuela in Puerto Ordaz, did its part, but it did not reach it and with 23 points it was out of the World Cup Qatar 2022 below Peru.

The leader of the qualifiers, Brazil, thrashed Bolivia 4-0 with a double from Rocharlison and the goals of Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Guimaraes.

The playoff between South America and Asia will be between the Peruvian national team and the winner of phase 4 of the Asian single-match qualifiers between Australia and the United Arab Emirates next June.
