The heat of the World Cup is beginning to be felt although there are still more than seven months to go before the opening whistle in Qatar. There are key hours with the qualification of several teams to the World Cup and also with the draw that will take place next Friday, April 1 at 13 (Argentina time). But there is still a previous chapter: the definition of the last three tickets available to the competition will be at stake during this day.

Concacaf, which delivers three direct passes and one spot in the repechage, has only two tickets pending and the repechage after Canada's historic qualification. This Wednesday, the last teams will get on the plane to Qatar, although the picture seems to be clear: Mexico and the United States have half a direct pass in their pocket and Costa Rica is looking for a feat to get out of the playoff.

The Mexicans of Tata Martino, who have 25 points and a +7 as a goal difference, face an already eliminated El Salvador at home. At the same time, the Americans (25 points and +13) will play the key match of the day against Costa Rica (22 points and +3).

The Ticos need me to lose Mexico and beat the Americans. In that case, every goal against the Mexicans will be key in the goal difference as will every score against the United States. There is another sum, even more difficult, but mathematically possible: Mexico to win and Costa Rica to beat the USA by more than five points.

If the current context remains unchanged, the tricolor will seek its fifth World Cup participation (1990, 2002, 2006 and 2014) in the repechage against Oceania: Solomon Islands will host New Zealand at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Qatar to seek a pass to the repechage.

It should be noted that both the Concacaf and Oceania repechage and that of Conmebl (Peru) against Asia (United Arab Emirates or Australia) will take place between 13 and 14 June. The same situation will be true for UEFA's outstanding key: Wales will compete for the ticket to the World Cup against the Scotland-Ukraine winner, a duel that was suspended due to the war conflict on Ukrainian territory.

The three balls that will represent the repechage will go to Pot 4 in next Friday's draw regardless of the location of the protagonists in the FIFA ranking. At the same time, the United States and Mexico would fall to Pot 2 if they seal their qualification. Costa Rica? If he succeeds in the heroic, he would go to Pot 4 and generate Senegal to rise to 2 and Tunisia to 3.
