On the morning of this Wednesday, March 30, the José María Córdova International Airport in Rionegro (Antioquia) reported that it resumed activity after being closed for more than 14 hours due to the emergency that occurred on Tuesday, when a plane covering the Medellín - Cartagena route of the Latam company had to land in an emergency in his track because a tire blew up. However, thousands of passengers were affected by the closure of the only track in the city, including the popular singer Arelys Henao.

Through her Twitter account, 'The Queen of Popular Music' informed her more than 55,000 followers that she is one of the travelers affected by the closure of the airport in Medellín, trills that disappeared hours later, after the situation was resolved. The singer reported that she had a flight from Bogotá to Medellin with the Avianca airline and noted that her bags did not appear either.

She spoke about this topic on the Olímpica Stereo station, from where she was called when she saw her publications. “I had a flight to Medellín , I was going home to get another suitcase ready because I have to travel to New York,” clarified the interpreter whose life is being told today in a bioseries on Caracol Televisión. He clarified that the problem was that his suitcase did not appear and from the airline they told him that when they solved it they would send it to his home.

If I had my suitcase, I could solve it in another way, it's just that I worry about my personal belongings... If this is not solved quickly, I will have to go to Medellín by land”, explained the singer on the radio station. Through her Instagram account, the artist shared some stories in which she sees other people who have had to sleep on the airport floor due to the cancellation of flights to Medellin.

After 12 hours at this airport looking for a solution to go home, look at how everything is, people sleeping on the floor,” the singer began to detail, “they haven't been able to leave for a hotel and want to keep an eye on their flights and updates.”

The singer took the opportunity to make a complaint to the Paisas authorities, noting that it is necessary for the José María Córdova International Airport to have another clue; the same thing she told the station, “Medellín is the second most important capital in the country, it is not possible that an emergency from this one will leave us incommunicado”.

For its part, Aeronáutica Civil reported that, due to the emergency, more than 21,000 passengers at the air terminal were affected. As reported to RCN Mundo by the director of Aerocivil Aeronautics (Aerocivil), Jair Orlando Fajardo, after the aircraft was declared in emergency and the runway at Rionegro airport had to be closed to deal with the situation, 136 flights had to be canceled.

“There was no involvement of the track. Already at this time the airport is operating and we are in normal conditions. The entire impact of the 136 flights that were canceled and of the 21,245 passengers who were affected by this incident is being addressed,” Fajardo told the Bogotá radio station.

It should be recalled that, at 2:40pm this Tuesday, the closure of the Rionegro airport was reported due to the fact that the Latam aircraft that covered the Medellin-Cartagena route, declared an emergency due to a failure of one of the tires of the front train after takeoff, so it had to return to the air terminal to carry out an emergency landing.
