The Personería de Bogotá warned that there are still delays in the operation of the school routes of the School Mobility Program (PME), which would benefit up to 33,102 students in the capital.
On March 4, the Personería communicated warning control to the Secretariat of District Education in order to clarify the delays in the timely operation of the service, supporting the importance of guaranteeing the fundamental right.
Likewise, he explained that this supervisory body requested information on March 18 on the progress in the implementation of the School Mobility Program and the exact figure of the total number of planned, scheduled, active and pending routes, and that, on that occasion, no timely response was received from the Secretariat of Education.
For Personería, it seems alarming that after three weeks of the inoperability of the routes, the situation persists, “in that administrative visit carried out last Thursday, 24, we evidenced an alleged non-compliance with 11 purchase orders, by three suppliers. In other words, there are still possible breaches in the execution of a total of 11 purchase orders for the provision of the school transport service.”
According to the entity, between March 8 and 23, there were delays in the operation of 211 school routes in Bogotá.
Similarly, the delegate stated that, to date, 502 routes are still pending operation, which would benefit approximately 18,165 students.
According to the monitoring body, it found on March 23 that in the Bravo Páez (IED), EL Libertador (IED) and Restrepo Millán (IED) schools, there are a total of 38 active school routes that are not yet providing the service, as evidenced by the requirements made by the audit.
