'Pedro, el escamoso' is a Caracol Television soap opera created by Luis Felipe Salamanca and Dago García that aired in the country between 2001 and 2003; the story tells the particular life of Pedro Coral Tavera (Miguel Varoni), a liar man who always gets his way thanks to his physical appearance and style. Given how important this production was in the country, the streaming platform, Netflix, will include it among its contents.

The story starred Miguel Varoni (Pedro Coral) and Sandra Reyes (Paula Davila), along with other famous actors such as Alina Lozano (Nidia), Fernando Solórzano (Rene), Andrea Guzman (Yadira) and Marcela Mar (Mayerli). Despite the fact that more than 20 years have passed, the soap opera is still popular today.

This was demonstrated in the midst of the covid-19 pandemic, when television channels were affected by the impossibility of continuing with the recordings, in order to continue with the content grid, several of them decided to 'retread' productions that were once a success, this was the case of Caracol with 'Pedro, el escamoso' .

In order to maintain the rating, the channel decided to re-broadcast the famous soap opera, which in its broadcast again ranked first in the country's rating. This success after 20 years made the streaming platform with the most users in the world interested in having production among its contents.

It should be noted that Netflix has among its contents several old and new Colombian novels, both from the Caracol Channel and the RCN Channel, such as 'I am Betty, the ugly one'; 'Loving and Living'; 'Escalona'; 'Nuevo Rico, Nuevo Pobre'; 'La venganza de Analía'; 'La slava blanca'; 'The dolls of the mafia'; among others. Now 'Pedro, el escamoso' will join this exclusive collection of Colombian novels on the platform.

Netflix announced that the soap opera will be available from Friday, April 1, this can be seen on the platform's mobile application, in the 'Coming Soon' section, where a preview of the production and its synopsis is available. The soap opera is classified as' telenovelesco ',' emotional 'and 'drama'.

For Colombia, new productions coming to Netflix in April also include the first season of 'Heartstopper', the first season of 'Pálpito' which is also a Colombian production produced by Netflix with the talent of Michel Brown, Ana Lucia Domínguez and Sebastián Martinez.

There will also be the fifth season of 'Elite', the second season of 'Russian Doll', new episodes of 'Better Call Saul', among other productions.

In the middle of an Instagram Live by Javier Gómez (César Luis Freydell) and Miguel Varoni (Pedro Coral), the two actors revealed how Dago García and Felipe Salamanca were inspired to create the story of this soap opera. To the surprise of many of their followers, the actors revealed that the story was born from the historic match between Argentina and Colombia in which the Tricolor won 5 to 0.

“The novel came successfully from the first thing they wrote, since the first librettos by Dago García and Felipe Salamanca based on a historic match that Colombia beats Argentina,” said Argentine Javier Gómez. “Thus was born 'Pedro, the scaly, '” Miguel Varoni revealed with laughter. He then added that “the genesis of 'Pedro, el scalamoso' is 5 to 0 in El Monumental.

And it is no coincidence that the protagonist was a Colombian and that his biggest rivals were two Argentines, from whom Coral takes away their company and their love thanks to their ingenuity and personality.
