Mother of a girl murdered in Valle del Cauca said her daughter was tortured before she died

A few days ago, in Valle del Cauca, the murder of Mary Luna Giraldo, the youngest of 13, who was reportedly killed by one of her friends in the municipality of La Victoria, was announced. The local authorities regretted the fact and stated that they would continue until they found the whereabouts of all the perpetrators.

Giraldo, had disappeared since last Tuesday, March 22, when he was on his way to visit a friend. Then there were audios and conversations in which Giraldo's friend confesses to killing her and specifies the place where she would have dumped her body.

Now, a few days after the findings and that he found the passage of one of the people who participated in the murder of the minor, the mother of the victim Marisol Arango, gave more details about the macabre crime and pointed out that her daughter was tortured before they ended her life.

“I need the authorities to help me, because they have not given me an answer (about) what they did to my daughter; it is known that they found her with a dumbbell on her feet,” Arango noted disconsolately and added: “I need them to tell me that they are going to start working on the case, I don't want other mothers to live what I am experiencing, I want justice, she was not a bad girl or a thief, I was tortured.”

Let us remember that on March 28, Mayor Mario Reyes gave some details of the investigation where he revealed that the 17-year-old friend of the victim gave details about where the body could be and handed herself over to the authorities: “On Saturday I called a day of search for the girl, through the information that the police had Childhood and Adolescence. This 17-year-old girl had already turned herself in, she gave very precious information about where the body could be.”

And he added that “unfortunately Mary Luna's body was found lifeless, on the banks of the Cauca River, submerged in water, with a weight of 10 to 15 kilos tied to her feet. This is a very regrettable fact for a minor. A 13-year-old girl who is just beginning to live.”

The minor's body was found in the area known as Linderos, jurisdiction of the municipality of La Unión, north of Valle del Cauca. The mayor also reported that the 17-year-old girl gave the names to other participants and that this is in the hands of the Prosecutor's Office for the investigation.

“She has mentioned that there are three other people involved and the reason so far is unknown as such,” he added.

The official added that “we are aware that Mary Luna had a family in Ansermanuevo and this girl had arrived 15 days ago. He goes out with her on Tuesday to a very popular place here, by people from work in the fields, where she says she stayed at a distance, while other people committed the crime.”

According to preliminary versions, the confessed murderer of the young woman was arrested on March 25 in the area known as El Vergel, in the municipality of Ansermanuevo.

The authorities are waiting to determine the motive for the crime, although there is speculation among friends and acquaintances of the victim that it would be out of envy or that they had a fight.
