Keiko Fujimori testified about Alberto Fujimori's early release after his departure from Barbadillo prison. The former candidate for the presidency of Peru said she was very enthusiastic about the president's release, however, these statements were made just before the IACHR's position and pronouncement were known, which would curb the dreams of the leader of Fuerza Popular.

“We understand that the decision of the Constitutional Court is in the courtroom and that the courtroom has to pass to the court and then to the INPE. We hope that all these procedures will allow my father to be able to leave tomorrow (Thursday), he said.

“He talked to Sachi, he was able to see him and although it is true, he is happy with this resolution, he is also a little anxious and that is why we are coordinating not only the visit to pass all the medical examinations, but also that the transfer can be done in an ambulance, he said.

On the other hand, he said that “the legal issues are being seen by lawyers, both Dr. (Cesar) Nakazaki and Dr. Elio Riera. We hope that in the next few hours he can be released.”

IACHR ASKS TO STOP ALBERTO FUJIMORI'S RELEASE

The Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) ruled on the decision of the Constitutional Court of Peru, which issued the ruling in favor of Alberto Fujimori to be released from prison.

Given this, the international body requested Peru temporarily to refrain from executing the decision to release the former head of state until it resolves the request for provisional measures in the coming days.

Thus, the plenary session of the Inter-American Court decided this Wednesday to adopt a decision in which it called on the Peruvian State “to guarantee the right of access to justice for the victims of the Barrios Altos and La Cantuta cases”.

It should be noted that when the decision of the Constitutional Court was known, the IACHR expressed its rejection of this ruling and issued its position through social media.

“IACHR expresses deep concern over the decision of the Constitutional Court ordering the release of Alberto Fujimori. It affects the victims' right to justice and hinders compliance with international obligations of the Inter-American Court in the Cantuta and Barrios Altos cases, he said in a tweet.

The international organization also shared an image that read: Crimes against humanity become a concern of the international community, constituting a very serious offense to human dignity and a flagrant denial of the fundamental principles enshrined in the American Convention on Human Rights, so they must not go unpunished.
