The official account of Humana Colombia followed the game. Opportunistic?

The candidate for the presidency for the Historic Pact, Gustavo Petro, did not last long on the sunken ship that turned out to be coach Reinaldo Rueda's project with the Colombian National Team. In fact, he dared to ask coach José Néstor Pékerman back after knowing the final elimination of the football team.

It is not a question of perpetual pessimism on the part of the left-wing candidate. In fact, before the start of the match between Colombia and Venezuela, Petro shared a tender family moment through his Instagram account, which has 763,000 followers, as his way of encouraging Tricolor.

It shows how he plays football with his youngest daughter, Antonella Petro, and his breed mascot Golden Retriever. The description of the video showed that Petro still had hopes for the standings.

The mood of the presidential candidate changed once all the Conmebol playoff commitments were over. Peru's victory over Paraguay meant that the Colombian National Team won in Ciudad Guayana was insufficient, so it did not even reach the repechage and was completely eliminated from the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Then, Gustavo Petro sent a brief message through his Twitter account to propose what, according to him, is the solution for the national team's disastrous campaign.

For its part, the official account of the Colombia Humana movement — of which Petro is the leader — shared the trill and added this message:

It is not the first time that Gustavo Petro has suggested that the now coach of the Venezuelan national team be rehired. On January 28, the former mayor of Bogotá watched the Colombia vs. Peru match from Ipiales (Nariño), in one of the races he was advancing to promote the Historic Pact list and his own pre-candidacy.

When the match ended, which was the defeat of the national team at the Metropolitano de Barranquilla, Petro wrote this other short tweet:

On several occasions, the candidate has made it clear that he is not a great connoisseur of the sport. In interviews he gave on the subject in 2018, he said that he learned about sports news on behalf of his children. Of course, during his mayor's office he was seen wearing the shirt of Independiente Santa Fe in an attempt to sympathize with that fan, who won several championships in that period.

Even though he doesn't know much, Petro dares to think about football in networks and, like anything he does, arouses controversy. An example of this is the proposal he made to Álex Char, former pre-candidate and director of the Barranquilla Junior, through Twitter.

Petro suggested dividing team ownership among his fans, in a system similar to the one that works in Argentina.
