On Wednesday, March 30, the elected members of the Conservative Party confirmed support for the presidential candidacy of the Republic by Federico Gutiérrez. It should be noted that Gutiérrez had won the inter-party consultation where David Barguil had also run as a pre-candidate for the presidency on behalf of the Conservatives.
David Barguil commented precisely on the decision taken today by the traditional political party: “We met the entire group of current and elected congressmen of the party, with the next president of Colombia. We reiterate our support and raise five issues that we consider to be priorities for the next four years.”
Barguil pointed out that one of Gutiérrez's importance in his presidential government will be the countryside, a reason that encouraged conservatives to make the choice with an agro-industrial development in mind: “With a national industry of fertilizers and agricultural inputs, as well as the construction of rural roads with the resources collected from the surcharge in the income tax to banks that we approved in Congress.”
Other aspects that David Barguil pointed out were the priority that 'Fico' will give to security and bank credits, which is why according to him it is the best choice for him to assume the presidency: “Strengthening intelligence by connecting all private security cameras to the police in real time. A third element is income and opportunity for all. I have talked about the cheap credit revolution so that low-rate credit reaches all regions.”
Other political allies that the 'Fico' campaign is seeking are the Liberal Party, and thus the candidate of the Team for Colombia would have the support of the country's traditional machinery.
The scandal involving presidential candidate Federico Gutiérrez
Details continue to be added that call into question the leadership of Gutiérrez as mayor of Medellín at the time. Well, in the last few hours, details were known about the Villegas investigation, because according to Caracol Radio, a former spokesman for the Envigado Office said that 'Fico' avoided the capture of his then Secretary of Security. It should be noted that the Antioquian leader has always emphasized that the mess in which Villegas was involved has to do directly with a mistake that he committed in the face of an alleged extortion.
Julio Perdomo alias' JP 'or 'El Viejo' who was in charge of the spokesperson for the Envigado Office,' JP 'managed to meet with Gustavo Villegas at the time when he was serving as Secretary of Security, he was later captured in 2017, however, prior to this, conditions had been established subjugation of members of criminal groups in the region.
With regard to the Julio Perdomo file that Caracol Radio was aware of, it is possible to establish a very delicate alleged interference by Federico Gutiérrez, since it would have prevented the first attempt to arrest Gustavo Villegas by the Attorney General's Office. In addition to this, according to this information, the Secretary of Security had direct communication with the combos of this city, to which he informed them in advance when arrest warrants were issued against them, in addition to this, from that unit, talks with the Envigado Office for surrender and submission of several criminal groups, which were presented to the public as captures thanks to the management and successes of the Gutiérrez administration.
