Ricardo Monreal, leader of the Morena National Regeneration Movement (Morena) in the Senate of the Republic, defended Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA) from the class and racist attacks that were demonstrated during its opening on March 21.
Through an article entitled “His Majesty, the Tlayuda... and other racist expressions”, the doctor of constitutional law by the UNAM assured this Tuesday, 29, that one must “have a colonized mind” to suppose that food like this should not be consumed inside the air terminal delivered by the 4T government.
And it is that on the day that the megaproject of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO) was delivered, the media paid attention to a lady who was informally selling doraditas (a typical Mexican dish); however, the idea that they were tlayudas (another national food) became popular, and the opponents of Q4 condemned the merchant and accused AIFA of being precarious.
“The street vendor of tlayudas in one of the aisles of AIFA was the note of color at the opening of the new airport. And unfortunately it was also an occasion to realize how deeply rooted and anchored discrimination, racism and classism are still found in the country”, you can read in the article.
Consequently, Monreal Ávila recalled about the first time he tried tlayudas, which meant at that time when he visited Oaxaca and felt that he took “a little piece of geography” to his mouth. Under that logic, he rescued other dishes that the Mexican gastronomic offer keeps such as “the aguachile from Sinaloa, the red enchiladas potosina, the shaken fish from Nayarit, the bwheat coyotas of Sonora, the pambazos of la Merced, the chili in nogada poblano, the panuchos of cochinita pibil of Mérida, the drowned cakes of Guadalajara or the Jerez wedding roast”.
With the phrase “first in time, first in law”, the president of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Senate of the Republic recalled that this lady had already worked for a long time at AIFA, since before she sold her products to construction workers. In that sense, he reproached the classism that emanates from criticism and how a woman beat the big food franchises.
With this context in mind, the Morenista condemned the denostation and degradation made by the detractors of the AMLO government. In this regard, he specified that this type of disqualifications is a reflection of a denial of national reality and everything that does not support his (colonized) ideology and that he “considers inferior because of his economic, sexual, religious, age, employment, ethnic or cultural status”.
Finally, it should be recalled that one of the main figures who criticized the delivery of AIFA was Kenia López Rabadán, a senator for the National Action Party (PAN), who came to the air terminal to point out, from a critical perspective, her experience with the megaproject: from the outbound journey, the state of the construction, the number of flights and the impression that was taken to the last one.
