The actions led by the Ministries of Culture and Traffic, the District Institute of Recreation and Sports, together with the mayor's office of Bogotá, launched a strategy that will be implemented in different parts of the city, whose objective is to end bad parking on the highway.

These actions are combined with the operations that have been carried out in the first two months of the year, for the recovery of public space. A total of 15,186 warrants have been imposed for parking in prohibited areas, a violation that has also led to the immobilization of 4,463 vehicles.

The Bogotá we are building” is the name of the campaign that, according to Felipe Ramírez, secretary of mobility, “is aimed at improving citizen culture and making us aware that we are all road actors. For this reason, we can all collaborate to ensure better mobility in the city”

Although poor parking is one of the most sanctioned actions in Bogotá, the towns of Chapinero, Fontibon and Teusaquillo are the most affected by this behavior, so the mayor's office calls on all vehicle drivers to park in authorized places, to leave the excuses “but it's only 5 minutes” and the “there is still room for them to walk”, in order to occupy the public space.

For these actions, there are 150 Civilian Traffic Officers, Traffic and Transport Police; Mobility Guides, more than 70 cranes and clamps, as temporary immobilization tools. These have left figures, which have determined that drivers of light vehicles (cars, vans and camperos) are the ones who incur the most in this malpractice, with more than 10,000 orders issued, followed by motorcycle drivers with more than 4,600 comparendas.

The strategy will be implemented taking into account, according to the mayor's office,

As of Monday, April 4, the teams from the secretariats of Culture, Mobility, Recreation and Sport, will make a greater presence in different parts of the city, providing relevant information on the problem of bad parking, its implications for traffic and people's lives.

All these measures have led to the national government passing a project to increase the rigor and conditions for obtaining a driver's license. According to the Minister of Transport Angela María Orozco, there is an update on the requirements for the operation of the Logistics Support Assessment Centers, as well as adjustments to the exams to obtain the driver's license, so that drivers are better trained.

According to the bill, all drivers who wish to apply for a driver's license must take a theoretical and practical exam. The first one will be done through a platform administered by the National Road Safety Agency, ANSV, which will have 40 multiple-choice questions. To pass this assessment, 80% of the questions must be answered correctly.

As for the practical exam, two other tests will be carried out, which are also connected to the platform. The first is individual skill, on a track closed to vehicle traffic, in which the skills to maneuver a motor vehicle will be evaluated. The second will be held on public roads and the skills to interact with other road actors will be analyzed. In case of not passing any of the tests, the applicant may submit a new test, no later than 30 days, after notification of the results.
