The actress and presenter Margarita Rosa de Francisco is one of the public figures that generates the most controversy on the Twitter social network, where women do not hesitate to make their opinions known on different current issues nationally and internationally. Recently, he gave his opinion on the Colombian-inspired film, 'Encanto', and received several reactions against it.
Since November 2021, the new animated film by Walt Disney Pictures that was inspired by our country has been a phenomenon, ranking among the most watched in the world and with a soundtrack that took the top spots on the international charts. Despite its success, Margarita Rosa de Francisco doesn't find the animated film that interesting.
This was expressed in a trill on March 27, hours before the 2022 Oscar Awards gala was held, in which the film was nominated in several categories. “I'm dying to not see Encanto,” wrote the public figure, generating the reaction of thousands of users, mostly against his position.
“Is this comment necessary? Is it necessary to criticize one of the few films that pay tribute to Colombia? Is it necessary to attack a production that employs hundreds of Colombians? ”; “What is the difference between a Mexican and a Colombian? Love for their country, their culture and traditions and not to criticize a tribute made by Disney to their traditions”; “Don't see it you don't miss anything. It is a Disney movie that was given an arepa, a donut and a song by Vives”; they were some of the comments that Margarita Rosa received from Francisco.
Hours later, when 'Encanto' won the award for Best Animated Film at the 94th edition of the Oscars, several Twitter users returned to the publication of the woman to show him that although she was not interested in the film, the film had received another important recognition.
It should be noted that in the same category other high-profile animated films with great international success such as' Flee ',' Luca ', 'The Mitchel Family vs. the Machines' and 'Raya and the Last Dragon' are nominated.
Faced with the new comments that came to her, Margarita Rosa de Francisco acknowledged that “they kept my face quiet. This makes me happy.”
“You are always like Davivienda, in the wrong place, when you don't screw it up at the entrance, you screw it up on the way out”; “That's fine, obviously, we all know that the winner itself is Disney, but it's a film inspired by Colombia, it was Colombians who sang, the ones who danced”; “Any Colombian proud of his homeland was glad about this, thanks to this film the name of Colombia was not linked to drug trafficking and prostitution at least for a while”; other users replied.
The news has generated various reactions. Among the most outstanding is that of the President of the Republic, Iván Duque, who was proud of the prize that the film received.
“It fills us with pride that the film Encanto, inspired by the cultural and natural wealth of our country, is recognized as the best animated film at the Oscars. This is undoubtedly an invitation to the world to discover the magic of Colombia,” the Colombian president wrote on his Twitter account.

The president's message was joined by the Minister of Culture, Angelica Robayo. “What happiness! #Encanto, a film inspired by our country, wins the #Oscars Award for Best Animated Film - commented the official on the same social network. A story that highlights our great cultural diversity, identity and tradition. What a pride! Congratulations to the fantastic team that made it possible.”
The U.S. Embassy in Bogotá also congratulated Colombia for the recognition they received at the gala. In turn, politicians and public figures commented on it and congratulated Colombia on its triumph. One of them was Gustavo Petro, current candidate for the President of the Republic, who assured that the statuette, “announces the hour of magic”.
Meanwhile, Chamber Representative Catalina Ortiz Lalinde said she was full of happiness for the award and congratulated the Colombian singers who made their debut at the gala. “The name of Colombia was definitely up tonight,” he added in a Twitter thread.
