Mayor Claudia López and President Iván Duque will meet in a Security Council following the attack that took place in an CAI in Ciudad Bolivar. He asked the president to activate all mechanisms for the protection of national security in the Colombian capital. The meeting between López and Duque will take place this March 29 at 9.30 a.m.
It is important to note that in the explosion that occurred in the CAI of the Arborizadora Alta sector in race 42 with 72b sur street two minors lost their lives, Daniel Estiven Duque of 12 and Salome Rangel of five. Mayor Claudia López condemned the events and sent a message of solidarity to the victims' families.
“We reject all violence and criminal attacks against any citizen, but we are much more hurt by the infamous death of innocent children. Solidarity union with the victims, union in rejection of violence and for justice. Union and not conjunctural manipulation is what we must achieve”, said the mayor on her social networks.
President Iván Duque also spoke on social media, stating that “we are filled with sadness at the death of Ivanna Rangel, a victim of the cowardly terrorism of FARC dissent. With deep pain, we express our condolences to their families. We will not rest until we find those responsible for this heinous attack that is mourning the country.”

It is for this reason that Mayor Claudia López, in addition to the National Security Council and the activation of security mechanisms, made a series of requests to President Iván Duque to prevent such violent acts from recurring.
1. Strengthen the actions of military intelligence on the action of these criminal groups of the FARC dissidents, who claimed responsibility for the attack.
2. Assign military and police reinforcements at all entrances and exits of Bogotá Region, especially in the south of the city.
3. Order a shield plan for the protection of the city, its population and strategic assets.
4. Assign exclusive teams of the Directorate of Police Intelligence (Dipol), the Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Interpol (Diin), the Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Extortion Directorate (Diase) and full-time prosecutors to disvertebrate and capture the members responsible for the attack.
5. Order all telecommunications companies and other entities that can contribute information to investigations to hand it over to the intelligence and judicial investigation teams as quickly as possible.
6. To provide the necessary resources for the National Victims Unit to register, characterize and compensate the victims of this attack.
7. Strengthen the surveillance, patrolling and investigation capacities of the Metropolitan Police of La Sabana and the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá to coordinate with the shield plan that is available for the city region, in particular for Ciudad Bolívar.
8. To request the Venezuelan government to identify, capture and extradite any member of the residual group in front of 33 of the FARC dissidents to answer for this cowardly and criminal attack.
The Mayor's Office of Bogotá declared three days of mourning and district mourning for the death of the two minors as of Tuesday, March 29, 2022, and it was also ordered that, “the Bogotá pavilion be built at half mast in all entities of the central, decentralized sector and localities”.
