Colombians are preparing for a new election day on May 29, where the first presidential round will take place. After the legislative elections and inter-party consultations were held on March 13, the next step in this voting year will be to elect the most optimal candidate as President of the Republic for the next 4 years.

The aspirants to power in the country are certainly already known, some of them have become known over time by having been in previous disputes for the highest office in Colombia but as congressmen, as is the case of Gustavo Petro, leader of the Historical Pact.

The congressman adds his third presidential aspiration this 2022 in search of finally taking over the country. As leader of the left he hopes to be able to reach Casa de Nariño in the first round as he announced during the recognition of the votes in the consultations.

Environmental leader Francia Márquez, who was one of the most voted candidates in the consultations with more than 700,000 citizens who trusted her, has also joined her campaign as vice-presidential formula.

On the other hand, and followed in the voting intention polls, after Gustavo Petro, is the Antioquian candidate Federico Gutiérrez of the Team for Colombia, who also announced his vice-presidential formula last weekend.

This is Rodrigo Lara Sánchez, the former mayor of Neiva who arrived to “depolarize” Fico's campaign, which has been constantly marked to the right by its closeness to the U Party and perhaps to the Democratic Center from where they have stated that he is on the list of possible candidate to support for the presidential elections after the renounces the aspiration of its candidate Oscar Iván Zuluaga.

Others such as Rodolfo Hernández, Ingrid Betancourt and Sergio Fajardo are also ready with their work teams to be able to advance their campaigns and to convince citizens with their proposals that they are the best option for the country for the next four-year period.

Meanwhile, the main protagonists in the elections are not only the candidates, but also the voters, who decide who should lead the country as of August 7.

All the instructions on how to do this can be found on the page of the National Registry Office. Remember that if you already did it for the last congressional elections, you will no longer need to do the procedure again.

However, the Mayor's Office of Bogotá has recently updated the portal mapas.bogotá.gov.co with the aim of which the capital's residents can find physical points authorized to carry out the procedure of changing the voting place or the registration of the ballot card personally.
