Talks between the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul began shortly after 10:30 a.m. (07:30 a.m. GMT) on Tuesday, the official Turkish agency Anadolu reported.

The negotiators were first met by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who asked them to “end the tragedy” of the Russian offensive in Ukraine, which began on February 24.
