After three days of dancing, the Barranquilla Carnival 2022 says goodbye this Tuesday, March 29. On the last day of celebration, the carnivaleros will mourn the death of the famous Joselito, a symbolic character who represents all those who took advantage of the festival to dance, drink and encornarce.
The farewell to Joselito Carnaval will begin at 4:00 in the afternoon, when the last parade of the season starts. This one leaves from Los Fundadores Park, in race 54, and will reach the Casa del Carnaval. In this tour will participate Queen Valeria Charris Salcedo, Momo King Kevin Torres Valdés, the kings of the Children's Carnival, Victoria Char Warner and Juan José Bermudez Utria, in the company of the popular queen 2022, María José Río.
It was revealed that Queen Valeria Charris will wear a dress called 'Cry of an Eternal Widow, 'prepared by students of the Fashion Design and Haute Couture degree at the Autonomous University of the Caribbean. They indicate that the press is inspired by the girlfriend of Italian actor Rodolfo Valentino, a film legend and Latin lover of the 1920s.
It should be noted that during this parade other groups in the city can participate. Carnaval S.A.S. reported that Joselito's mourners from the different neighborhoods of the city, folklore groups and groups interested in dismissing the famous character can register on Tuesday, March 29, before starting the tour at the starting point.
With this funeral procession, the Barranquilla Carnival 2022 ends after more than a year of isolation and pandemic. The carnivaleros looked forward to this season and, according to the previous balance of the authorities, they enjoyed it with enthusiasm.
In all, 15 events were held during Carnival and the previous season. Among them is the traditional Battle of Flowers, held on Carnival Saturday (March 26). The cumbiodrome of the Via 40 in Barranquilla was the scene of more than 100 groups that danced to entertain the public.
In addition, floats were seen in which the Carnival kings and public figures of the country went. Artists Elder Dayan and his accordion player Lucas Dangond, as well as presenter and former Miss Colombia Daniela Álvarez and actor Daniel Arenas stole the applause.
It is also worth noting the musical marathon of more than 12 hours, which brought together the best exponents of genres such as merengue, salsa, vallenato, champeta, tropical and urban, was held at the Festival of Orchestras, held at the Romelio Martínez stadium. On Sunday afternoon and into the early hours of Monday, artists and groups gave everything on stage to win the most precious trophy of the Barranquilla Carnival: the Congo de Oro.
As part of the Festival, tribute was paid to the Prince of Czech Carnival Acosta for his legacy and for being ambassador to the world of the Barranquilla Carnival. In addition, tribute was paid to artists Jean Carlos Centeno, Alex Manga and Papo Man in a space called 'Champeteando y vallenateando'.
