The premiere of the 12th season of Vecinos became one of the most emotional moments of the series, as the actors had to say goodbye to Benito Rivers, the character played by Octavio Ocaña. Roxana Castellanos confessed that recording this scene was difficult for the entire cast.
On Sunday, March 27, the first season that the cast of Vecinos recorded after the death of Octavio Ocaña was released, so several minutes of the first episode were dedicated to giving it a tribute to the actor and the character of Benito, who would have left his mother's womb to succeed in a series.
Roxana Castellanos, in a meeting with the press, recalled that the day they shot that emotional scene the whole cast was already ready to shed tears and let themselves be carried away by their feelings, so it was recorded once.
The actress said that, despite the fact that they said goodbye to Ocaña, the character of Benito Rivers will continue throughout the series, so she invited the public to continue watching her. He said: “A well-deserved tribute to our Octavian and, in any case, Benito will still be present, you will see how, in Vecinos”
The protagonist of My Dear Heritage recalled that it was very difficult to film the farewell scene because they had to touch such a sensitive subject in a humorous program, but also because of how much the death of the young actor affected them. The producer even told them that it would only be done once in order to collect only the emotions they wanted to exert towards their late companion.”
Castellanos also confessed that Octavio's absence was very strong and the entire cast of Vecinos resented his death, because apart from friends, they were colleagues and the work team remained incomplete.
Just a few days before the fifth month of Octavio Ocaña's death, Vecinos premiered its 12th season with an emotional tribute to the story that he personified for 11 years Benito Rivers and with whom he grew up in front of the series' audience.
All the cast members said goodbye to Ocaña with a message as a call, because Benito would have left home to become a successful actor, as his father that it was. The character that Benito would play in the series he would have joined is that of an “angel”.
“Fly-nosed beggar, is that we won't be the same without you, but now you are an angel, our angel... Fly high Benito, fly high. Octavio will always be our Benito”, was the message that Lalo España, in the character of Germán, dismissed his companion.
