Rodolfo Hernández linked Federico Gutiérrez to the tragedy of the Space building in Medellín: “He was a resident engineer”

Live and live, but without providing a single test, the presidential candidate lashed out at one of his competitors for the presidency

The Space building, which collapsed in Medellín during October 2013, and which left 12 people dead, returned to the public scene these days, but this time as a political strategy for independent presidential candidate Rodolfo Hernández, who pointed to his electoral opponent, Federico 'Fico' Gutiérrez, from participate in one of the most controversial works in the country.

It was in a dialogue with the news program Red Más Noticias, that the former mayor of Bucaramanga vehemently referred to Fico, whom he not only criticized for his work past, but questioned for allegedly working in the building that left hundreds of Medellin residents homeless several years ago.

“When did you see Federico Gutierrez working? He's always been a public employee. He worked a little with (the construction company) CDO, when his father put him in,” said Hernández, referring to the company Álvaro Villegas Moreno, in charge of the work on Antioquia soil.

In that aside he did not miss an opportunity to launch the very serious accusation against the candidate of the Team for Colombia, who is also a civil engineer like the former president from Santander.

And his criticism didn't stop there. The contender for his Anti-Corruption Rulers League movement pointed out to Gutiérrez of being responsible for the collapse of the building. “-Gutiérrez- did not realize that the amounts of iron that were being placed in the structure were below the norms,” the applicant told Red Más.

The fight between Fico and Hernandez has been going on since mid-2021 when they met in a presidential debate. However, although the former mayor of Medellín has tried not to stop balls from his current electoral counterpart, the former Bumanguese president has not stopped sending him criticism.

In fact, in that interview, the engineer and businessman distorted the political career of the right-wing candidate and called him a “politician”. Moreover, he even reminded him of his participation in the construction and overflow of Hidroituango.

He even sent a kind of exhortation to Colombians to analyze the past of one of the favorites to succeed Iván Duque in the Presidency of the Republic.

“A person who comes out to defend contractors, is it that today they are giving him money to finance the campaign?” , questioned the former mayor. What's more, he even left Gutiérrez a particular piece of advice: “It's time for him to open up so that he doesn't cheat Colombians again,” he concluded.

These criticisms are similar to those that he also threw at his political contender a few days ago, where he even questioned him because of his physical appearance. In dialogue with W Radio, the former bourgemaster referred to President Iván Duque, whom he took as an example of what he called “deception of voters” because when he took office he spoke for almost two hours, “and see what leaves us, more poverty, more misery, more corruption and the vast majority of wealthier politicians”, he pointed out; it was there that he questioned Fico.

Now they want to repeat that and they want to repeat it, apparently, in the head of Fico, who is the skinnier and thinner Duke II,” said Hernández regarding the winning candidate of the Team's presidential consultation for Colombia. For now, Gutiérrez has not spoken about his links with Space.
