After long months without this festival, Rock al Parque announces its return for 2022. With new schedules, one of the most important music meetings in Latin America, it sounds loud again. Idartes, the entity in charge of managing events like this one, highlighted that these are two consecutive weekends in which fans of the genre will be witnessing musical montages. The date with rock in Bogotá was then scheduled for November 26 and 27, and December 3 and 4.
“This year we break it again! On November 26, 27 and December 3 and 4, it returns with our entire Rock Festival in the Park 2022. We are excited about this musical reunion full of bands, raucous sound and all the power of rock culture,” the organization wrote in the caption of the official announcement of the festival's return.
“We are going to do it in a different month, a month of lights and Christmas celebrations. Rock al Parque will have four days of programming in Simón Bolívar Park, but also in other parts of the city, because we are going to have a cultural rock circuit”, noted the director of Idartes, Carolina Valencia, in this regard.
“In addition to these festivals there will be one dedicated exclusively to the joropo that will be held on July 23 and 24 at the Teatro Al Aire La Media Torta, the Llanero Festival, which seeks to satisfy a very large community, which is the Llanera community resident in Bogotá, to which the Venezuelan diaspora, who also loves the genre, joins the Venezuelan diaspora,” added Valencia. which reaffirmed, in its wake, the return of the Ibero-American Theatre Festival between 1 and 17 April.
It should be remembered that in addition to the celebration that takes place around rock, the dates of other meetings have already been confirmed. Idartes announced the detailed agenda of events such as Jazzy, Salsa and Hip Hop in the Park: Salsa to the Park: June 4th and 5th; Hip Hop in the Park: July 2nd and 3rd and Jazz-to-Park: September 17th and 18th. “Rock in the Park, Salsa to the Park, Jaz in the Park, Hip Hop to the Park and Colombia to the Park will once again be the center of the capital's musical scene and will give citizens the opportunity to enjoy live music not only in the parks, but also in different sites that put Bogotá as the stage”, the Idartes portal reads.
In February of this year, the opening of the calls for Rock al Parque and the other district festivals in Bogotá was announced. Phase I of the District Stimulus Program 2022 opened its offer with 172 calls for applications including scholarships, awards, residencies and internships. The investment exceeded $13 billion and included 1,049 incentives and seven competitive exchanges in which creators and cultural managers could participate in in order to strengthen their projects and initiatives.
With this, the call was also opened for artists interested in participating in the Festivals al Parque, one of the main efforts to revive the Bogotá art sector promoted by the District Institute of Arts - Idartes, “to resume the enjoyment and appropriation of a quality cultural offer by citizenship”.
In this sense, for this year the Music Management of Idartes “will aim to provide a decentralized offer within the framework of festivals, understanding that it is necessary to stimulate different spaces and other ways for citizens to inhabit the city”.
It is worth mentioning that through this grant, the aim was to select the district musical proposals that will be part of the artistic program of the Rock al Parque Festival 2022.
