Rebecca Jones dedicated message to Sasha Sokol after Luis de Llano case: “He was a man and you were a girl”

Mexican actress and producer Rebecca Jones joined the list of personalities in the media who showed her support for former Timbiriche member Sasha Sokol, who on March 8 denounced the abuse she suffered by producer Luis de Llano during the early career on her social networks artistic.

Through her official Instagram account, Rebecca Jones dedicated an emotional message to Sasha Sokol, in which she remembered not only how it was that they met but also what she felt at the age of 26 when she saw the former Timbiriche at a party with producer Luis de Llano.

“I was 26, so you must have been 13. I remember being surprised when I saw you enter that adult party with producer Luis De Llano, whom I knew because I worked very early in my career with him. Seeing that he treated you like his girlfriend was very shocking and unpleasant for me, being that he was a man and you were a girl,” Rebecca Jones wrote to Sasha Sokol regarding her complaint against the Mexican producer.

In the same way, the actress shared that, if she had now witnessed the relationship between Sasha Sokol and Luis de Llano - even if she had maintained a friendship with the producer - she would have denounced it before the authorities. Rebecca Jones also commented that during her generation, actresses and actors lived times of silence and secrets, of rumors, of abuse and veiled sexual violence, a situation that even led her to feel “grateful” and “lucky” for not having been prey to some of the sexual predators who have been around the art scene for years.

“If I were to witness the same thing today, surely, even if it were my friendship, I would denounce it. However, the actresses and actors of my generation know that in those years everything was very different, we lived in times of silence and secrets, of rumors, of abuse and veiled sexual violence; of feeling 'grateful' and 'lucky' that I had never been prey to anyone in an environment that could be, known to all, so harmful and predatory. It was 'the norm', some said, it came with the shamba. We were accustomed to thinking that,” the producer wrote through her official Instagram account.

In the emotional message, Rebecca Jones also recounted that years later she met Sasha Sokol again in a project of another television station and that it was right there when he realized that the former Timbiriche had regenerated from years of addictions and eating disorders, and that her “natural sweetness was beginning to bloom”.

Rebecca Jones acknowledged the resilience of Sasha Sokol, who stood in the way not only of the abuses suffered during the early years of her career, but also the harsh criticism of the public, who for years devoted themselves to making comments derogatory because of their physical appearance.

“You were finally coming out of hell and society was criticizing you. And yet you never lost your courage to survive a series of abuses that diminished your life,” wrote the actress of Cuna de Lobos.

Additionally, Rebecca Jones thanked the former member of Timbiriche for raising her voice for all those women who still don't dare to tell their stories, and pointed out that abuses against girls and women must stop. The producer also denounced the complicity that exists behind these cases and celebrated that after 33 years Sasha Sokol got rid of all that guilt and pain that she carried, so she described her as a a very brave woman whom she deeply admires.

On March 8, Sasha Sokol issued a statement accusing producer Luis de Llano of having abused his vulnerability to conquer her romantically, since she was a 14-year-old girl and he was a 39-year-old man, this at the beginning of the 80s. The former member of Timbiriche mentioned that she was silent to the media for more than 33 years because she did not know how to feel about the situation that marked her life and caused her to lose the support of her stepfather, Fernando Diez Barroso Azcarraga and cause the sadness of her mother, the late Magdalena Cuillery.

In the face of the heartbreaking statements of the actress of soap operas such as La vida en el espejo and El premio mayor, the general public and various personalities gave her showed their support and condemned the performance of producer Luis de Llano.
