The countdown has begun. The world will come to a standstill with the start of the 2022 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar and will bring together the best representatives of the “king sport”. This celebration will cause thousands of fans to pack their bags to live this adventure with their national teams. The national fans are also getting ready to be able to cheer from the richest country in the Arab world.
Although the goal of many is to travel to encourage the Peruvian national team, no matter what the outcome of the South American qualifiers is, the World Cup is an attractive event for those who enjoy the sport and want to enjoy it to the fullest, especially those who did not have the opportunity to attend Russia 2018.
If you are thinking about going to the Qatar 2022 World Cup, you should know that you are still in time to organize your trip, since it is a country far from Latin America and where no Spanish is spoken, you have to take into account several aspects to avoid any problems during your stay.
One of the topics that you should inform yourself about if or if it is about the visa that is needed to be able to travel. Is it mandatory for Peruvians? In the following lines we tell you all the details.
DO I NEED A VISA TO TRAVEL TO QATAR?
A few years ago, a large percentage of citizens had to request this document in order to legally enter. With the new measures and facilities for the sporting event, Peruvians have good news about their access to Qatar.
In November 2021, the Peruvian government reported that all those born in the country do not need a visa to travel to the World Cup headquarters. This measure forms part of the “Agreement between the Republic of Peru and the State of Qatar on the Short-Stay Visa Waiver” for ordinary passport holders.
What does this mean? It provides that citizens of both countries who hold valid ordinary passports may enter, stay, leave and transit through the territory of the other Party without visas, for tourism purposes, for a period not exceeding ninety days. The convention shall enter into force when the internal procedures of the Parties are completed.
The purpose of this agreement is to promote tourist and commercial exchange with a country with high purchasing power, favoring the economic reactivation of the Peruvian tourism sector.
It is important that for your trip you have a valid electronic passport, the only document that is required to leave our country together with the National Identity Document (DNI).
