Peru, Colombia and Chile play the last chance to qualify for the World Cup: this is how the Repechage will be defined in the qualifiers

Three teams bid for a ticket to the Repechage before a cast of the Asian Football Confederation

The last date of the South American Qualifiers is played and, with Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador and Uruguay with guaranteed passage to Qatar, the only thing left to be defined on the last date is who will take fifth place in the standings and, consequently, with the ticket to the Repechage to face a cast of the Asian Football Confederation (the opponent would leave Australia, United Arab Emirates, Iraq or Lebanon). Although this match will take place between June 13 and 14, the certainty is that this ball linked to the repechage will be in Pot 4 during the World Cup draw that will take place next Friday, April 1.

With Venezuela, Bolivia and Paraguay eliminated, the three teams still in the race to take that chance are Peru (21 points), Colombia (20) and Chile (19). This Tuesday, those led by Ricardo Gareca will welcome those of Guillermo Barros Schelotto, coffee growers will visit those led by José Néstor Pekerman and La Roja will seek to prevail over the Charrúas.

After making history in the previous qualifying round, Ricardo Gareca wants to increase his legend in Peru. In the absence of a single commitment, he is in fifth place with 21 points (-5 goal difference).

If they beat Paraguay on Tuesday, the Gareca team will achieve their goal and will be in the Repechage. In the event of a tie, they should expect that neither Colombia nor Chile will win. If they fall against the Albirroja, those from Tigre will take fifth place only if the coffee growers do not add up and La Roja does not win.

WHAT COLOMBIA NEEDS:

Those of Reinaldo Rueda, who come from playing the last two World Cups and climbing the last rung of the 2021 Copa América podium, appear in sixth place with 20 points (0 goal difference).

They must win and hope that Peru does not surpass Paraguay. In case of a draw against Venezuela, their chances are reduced to Ricardo Gareca's losing and Chile not winning: they would be fifth by goal difference.

WHAT CHILE NEEDS:

La Roja wants to break the curse and return to the top date after watching the 2018 World Cup in Russia from the outside. Its outlook is not encouraging and, a priori, it is the one with the most complicated scenario. Today he is seventh, with 19 points (-5 goal difference).

Those led by Martín Lasarte have only one possible scenario: to beat an already qualified Uruguay and hope that Peru will lose to Paraguay (in the event of a draw the goal difference will count) and that Colombia does not beat Venezuela. In case of equalizing, it will be out of competition.
