On Saturday, September 4, several media outlets and public opinion portals were burned after the abandonment of Miguel Ángel López from the Vuelta a España 2021. That day was the 20th fraction of the Vuelta.

It all happened when the Colombian cyclist's lag seemed like a 'simple' race situation, and, in a series of attacks by the favorite cyclists, 'Superman' was cut off from the group, thus losing his chances of finishing in the third place of the overall standings, a position that gave him to finish on the podium. Then, kilometers later it became known that the Colombian beetle got off its bike and that it left the competition.

After this situation, it was announced, a few days later, that the Colombian would leave the ranks of Movistar and return to Astana. It was until October 15 that the rider confirmed his signing as the new Astana cyclist. After this announcement, López gave a press conference in which he talked about the bad working environment that occurred inside the team and the mismanagement in the last Vuelta a España, which forced him to withdraw from the Tour and was not allowed to go to the Olympics.

Regarding what happened in the penultimate stage of the Vuelta a España, he said: “The mountain came, but I was surprised to see that everyone was waiting for me and they said: 'you're going home, 'because my plans were to get to Paris. I was given that order, I wanted to finish, but that was the order. I had a good season with Movistar. I had very important victories. There were things that overflowed the glass and the best thing I could have done was to get out. Things happen and you have to accept them, I never give up.”

And he added that: “The plan in the Vuelta a España and have a chance of being with the best and I left with the idea of that. Today to remember a little about what happened in the Vuelta is to go to the controversy. It's the best thing I could have done even if the fans don't see it that way, it's easy to talk and say things, but to be there and see yourself in that situation... I think it's best to be where you want it. The best thing is to be where you feel good, to show off without being deprived of something. Reflection is to be where you are at your leisure, that they support you and there is an atmosphere, that there is no tension, selfishness and stuff.”

For his part, Eusebio Unzué, general director of the Movistar Team, commented at the time that: “These are situations that occur in normal, normal and sports life as well. Things that, sometimes, are incredible. It is difficult to find a solution and that is what has happened to both sides. It is not the desired end, but the circumstances are what they are, and there is no other remedy that each one has a different path. An ending that as a result of... he has no choice,” said the renowned Spanish director in dialogue with Marca.

This Monday it became known that, through Movistar Plus, the third season of 'The Least Thought Day' will be released, a film that will also tell what happened with Miguel Ángel López in La Vuelta a España. For the premiere, the telephone channel announced that this production will have a marathon in which all the episodes will be broadcast.
