Despite allegations of sexual harassment, an amparo judge ordered the reinstatement of Eduardo López Betancourt to teaching, as well as a member of the Technical Council of the Faculty of Law and the president of the University Court.

In view of this, the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) reported that it will file an appeal for review against the resolution with the competent judicial authority, not before ensuring that the necessary actions will be taken for the Technical Council to comply with the compliance.

The teacher was dismissed from office on 25 February as a result of the accusation that a student made against him for verbal assaults with lewd and sexual content perpetrated during the 1999 strike, as well as in 2019 when the victim was pursuing postgraduate studies.

In this way, Betancourt was linked to the trial since minimal but sufficient elements were found to continue the trial against him, at a hearing on February 24.

It should be noted that, at that session, the lawyer also validated the crime of aggravated sexual harassment, however, he rejected the classification of cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment charged by the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic (FGR).
