In the last few hours, Avianca and Viva Air announced that, within the framework of their reactivation plan, they began operating new domestic and international air routes in Colombia, in order to expand their connections.

In line with its goal of inaugurating 50 new routes by 2023, Avianca announced that, since last weekend, it connects Cali directly (non-stop) with Mexico City (Mexico) and Madrid (Spain).

According to the airline, the Cali-Mexico City-Cali route will offer 8 weekly flights and 1,200 seats a week. In addition, thanks to the fact that it will be operated on Airbus A320 family aircraft, with a capacity of 150 people, the route will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The Cali-Madrid-Cali route will offer 8 weekly flights and 2,000 seats per week on double-aisle aircraft with capacity for 250 customers. According to the airline, the frequency of the route will be on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

The airline also announced that they inaugurated five other air routes from Medellin to Mexico, Spain, Costa Rica, the United States and one domestic route.

According to the airline, these new routes will operate with 6 weekly flightsand 900 seats per week on routes to and from Mexico City, Orlando and Riohacha, as well as 6 weekly flights with about 800 seats a week on the route that connects Medellin with San Jose. ” In the case of the Medellín-Madrid route, its weekly flights will be 6 and its offer of seats per week will be 1,500.

The latest new routes to be operated by Avianca are from Cartagena to New York (United States), Miami (United States) and San Jose (Costa Rica). In total, they will offer 14 weekly flights on these new routes, which will be operated on Airbus A320 family aircraft with a capacity of 150 people.

For its part, Viva Air announced that, from May 15, it will start operating the direct route Cali-Cucuta, which will have special launch prices: from $89,000 per trip.

As the airline informed the same station, the new route will operate with three weekly routes: Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
