Five men beat two people to death in Putumayo

The Prosecutor's Office announced that the victims were also attacked with bladed weapons. So far, only one of the bodies has been identified.

The Attorney General's Office reported the arrest and securement of five men in Puerto Asís, Putumayo, who reportedly acted together to beat two citizens to death on the road to the municipality's Hong Kong pier.

According to the entity, the events, which occurred on 16 January, were apparently the result of a reckoning of accounts, since the victims were reported to be informants to the authorities of a narcotics distribution place.

According to the judiciary, at the moment they have only been able to identify one of the bodies found at the crime scene, Cristian David Arias Sánchez.

In the face of those suspected of the double homicide, the Prosecutor's Office indicated that, together with Sijin and the Military Gaula, they resulted in the arrest of five men in the Brisas village of Hong Kong in Puerto Asís.

Those captured were identified as: Jonathan Garcia Díaz, alias' Garcia 'or' Grillo ', Faiber Alexander Osorio alias' Boston ', Raúl Antonio Montoya Lozada alias' Maicol ', Mauricio Horta Segura alias' Mambo 'and Ricardo José Fernández Villegas alias' Jose 'or 'Veneco'.

A judge with the function of supervising guarantees charged the five men with the crimes of concert to commit crimes and aggravated homicide, and also endorsed the Prosecutor's request to shelter them with a measure restricting freedom.

Despite the fact that the five judicialized were imposed an insurance measure in the prison, none of those investigated accepted responsibility for the events. According to the Office of the Prosecutor, detainees will remain deprived of their liberty until the sentence is handed down.

In other news, the Vallecaucan authorities announced that, last Friday, March 26, three men and one woman were killed inside a house on a farm in the municipality of El Águila, in that department.

According to the initial report of the Institute for Peace Studies (Indepaz), the events occurred in an area known as La María, where the victims were massacred with a firearm inside their home.

The mayor of El Águila, Daniel Gallego, for his part, told local media that, apparently, the crime would be related to issues of microtrafficking in drugs, while explaining that in the commission of the massacre he said that there was no presence of both the police and the army in that area.

“In La María there have been some issues of insecurity, because it is a populated center that unfortunately has no security forces. We don't have a police station there,” said Gallego.

At the moment, according to Indepaz, there are no early warnings issued by the Ombudsman's Office for the municipality of El Águila. However, the Institute indicated that the territory is close to the department of Risaralda, a region where armed actors have been identified that generate actions in different municipalities in these two departments.

The authorities are still investigating the facts in order to find those responsible for the massacre and to identify the four victims.
