The 2022 Oscar ceremony will be remembered by viewers, not only because of the films that won one of the long-awaited awards, but also because of the controversial slap that Will Smith gave to Chris Rock, after the latter joked with the alopecia suffered by Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
It all happened before the winner of the Best Director award came forward, when Rock mocked Jada and Will Smith not only got up from his seat and took the stage to slap him live, but also yelled at him that he wasn't talking that way about his wife.
And someone who did not stop reacting to this event was Eduardo Yañez, who is remembered for living a similar situation, because in October 2017, while he was at the presentation of the film service Pantaya, in Los Angeles, California, he gave him a slapped the entertainment journalist Paco Fuentes, who attended the program El Gordo y la Flaca.
So, after the conflict at the most recent Academy Awards, Yañez did not hold back and pointed out that Will Smith had good reason to act the way he did.
“I'm on the other side, on the 'hand' there are colleagues who feel very salty with a microphone and dare to disrespect others,” he commented during the Vivalvi Multimedios program.
Likewise, the soap opera hunk assured that he has been “in the shoes” of Will Smith and remarked that sometimes, when such events happen it is difficult to be completely rational.
“I think that respect comes from respect and words are also bullying, you can bully people with words and you don't know, you should be in Will Smith's shoes, as you had to be in my shoes. How black everything gets on you, how your reason is clouded and you no longer think and react to an attack,” he said.
The protagonist of Destilando Amor pointed out that Chris Rock should not have made fun of a woman's medical condition just to look good with those present at the gala.
“What they did to Jada was terrible, it is terrible that a guy for winning followers, supporters makes fun of a condition or illness of a person, whatever it may be,” he clarified.
Eduardo Yáñez spoke about the time it happened to him and remarked that in his situation, all he received was criticism from the Mexican population and declared that possibly in the United States, the actor of Men in Black could even be classified as a hero.
“In my case everyone disqualified me from shit* up, the truth is that there in that market I have been a hero of women. But the truth is good for me, because I have already lived it, I already accepted the mistake I made to myself, I accepted it”, he clarified.
It is worth remembering that after the altercation between Chris Rock and Will Smith, netizens did not take long to react and compared the incident with Eduardo's blow to the journalist.
And it is that in 2017, Yáñez's reaction was because Fuentes questioned him about an incident that his son had starred in the United States. The young man opened an account on a donation platform to be supported with money to repair his car after a crash.
“If you're so worried about my son, you send him the money, man, or you go and tell him,” replied the annoyed actor.
“People are the ones who are worried,” said the reporter, which triggered a more violent reaction from the actor. “That's shit*, that's what you say so that people get into what they don't care about,” Yáñez said shortly before slapping the reporter.
Thus, the journalist decided to undertake a legal process that he won in 2020 and with which he obtained a large sum of money as reparation for the Yáñez coup.
