On the occasion of the FIFA date, Club América de México organized a tour of the United States where the first match was against Monterrey. However, the match ended with a defeat for the 'eagles' of Mexico and with the injury of one of the players who reinforced the team at the beginning of the year, the Colombian Juan Ferney Otero.

The striker received a hard kick from Daniel Parra in the first minutes of the second half. The footballer, who started in the city of Austin, Texas, had to leave the field supported by medical personnel and request the change because the severe pain made it impossible for him to return to the field.

The concern of the managers lies in the few minutes that the Colombian player has played and the strong investment he represented in the closing of the transfer season. Juan Ferney Otero as a player for America adds 260 minutes played in Liga MX; divided into six games.

So far Club America has not reported the injury suffered by the striker. Otero came from Santos Laguna, where he was held for the Colombia team in the Copa America. However, a positive test against COVID-19 left it out of the oldest national team tournament in the world.

This is how the party developed

The Monterrey Rayados defeated the Eagles of America 2-1 in a preparation match played during the FIFA Date at Q2 Stadium in Austin, Texas. In a great first half, Monterrey scored two goals, while in the complement the Aguilas scored the one for the discount.

The first danger play for Rayados came in the 13th minute with Vincent Janssen, who received a long pass through the top, let the football in and shot at the front post. However, the football crashed on the outside of Oscar Jimenez's goal.

At 17′, Miguel Layún sent a low cross to the center of the area, Federico Viñas tried to finish on goal, but Matias Kranevitter was vigilant to ward off the danger. Maxi Meza entered only on the left wing and, in the face of Oscar Jiménez's shrinkage, shot crossed to open the score.

After a sideline kick, Vincent Janssen received a ball and enabled Alfonso Alvarado, who shot from outside the box to score Monterrey's second. For the second half, the match was more stuck. Although America took the lead, Rayados knew how to maintain the advantage against the blue creams.

Miguel Layún, from America, took a shot from outside the box at 62′, but Luis Cardenas Atento made a great save in his first intervention of the match. Then around the 80th minute, the same player shot with power from outside the box to discount on the scoreboard.
