The Bolivian national team is getting ready for this last challenge with the expectation that their captain Marcelo Martins Moreno will remain the top scorer of the qualifiers, while an undefeated Brazil with the assured pass to Qatar will reach the match in La Paz without Neymar or Vinicius Junior.
La Verde will bid farewell to its participation in the Qatar 2022 World Cup hosting the Brazilian team at the Hernando Siles stadium in La Paz, at an altitude of more than 3,600 meters on the last date of the South American qualifiers.
This match also marks the farewell of Venezuelan César Farías from the leadership of the Bolivian national team due to the unfavorable results in this round.
The captain and historic scorer Marcelo Martins Moreno, who plays in the Paraguayan Cerro Porteño, will focus in this last meeting on remaining as the top gunner in the qualifying rounds in which he has 10 goals, ahead of Neymar who has 8 and Lionel Messi with 7.
Farías will not be able to count on defenders Luis Haquín or Bolivian naturalized Cameroonian Marc Enoumba due to accumulation of yellow cards, so defenders José María Carrasco and José Sagredo could start.
For its part, the Brazilian national team, led by Adenor Leonardo Bacchi Tite will not be able to count on its stars Neymar or Vinicius Junior due to accumulation of yellow cards and both were freed from the concentration of their national team to return to their clubs.
“It is a game that has a lot of influence in strategic terms, we are going to play at altitude and in the face of the difficulties we have had historically against Bolivia. It will be a match in which the ball gains more speed due to altitude,” Tite commented on the match.
However, he admitted that by playing at the height of La Paz, Brazil “will not be such a vertical team, because conditions do not allow it and it would be inhumane” to act differently.
It is also unclear who will replace both stars, but some of the possibilities are Bruno Guimaraes, Philippe Coutinho and Richarlison. La Canarinha is the undefeated leader of the South American qualifiers with 42 points and is already assured of its passage to the Qatar World Cup.
