After the call by the mayor's office of Bogotá, headed by Mayor Claudia López, the National Security Council was held, chaired by the President of the Republic, Iván Duque Márquez. In this, various security issues for the city were clarified and advances in the investigation that seeks to give the whereabouts of alias 'John Mechas', alleged mastermind of the terrorist attack in the Arborizadora Alta neighborhood last Saturday, March 26 at night.

President Iván Duque indicated that the foot of public forces in the city will be expanded, in addition to this, 120 intelligence men are available for the execution of rapid arrests in the face of this type of criminal act. Duque also pointed out that the rewards offered would be expanded taking into account the urgency regarding the capture of 'John Mechas' and his henchmen, to 5 billion pesos and 300 million pesos respectively.

The work that will be carried out from this moment, will seek the coordination of the National Government with the administration of Claudia López, in addition to this, the measures are focused directly on Bogotá, in order to neutralize criminal actions in the capital, regarding this, the national president stressed: “We have agreed all the support from the Attorney General's Office, so that we can carry out all the investigation and prosecution expressly, and that we can also act against 36 criminal structures in the city of Bogotá, which may be involved in acts of criminal subcontracting or what are permanent threats to the public. At the same time, we will update the cartel of the most wanted for terrorism and homicide in the city, also increasing the reward for alias 'John Mechas' to 5 billion pesos and 300 million pesos for the rest of those involved in the attack.”

Regarding the expansion of strategies to counter crime, President Duque said: “The Joint Committee against Terrorist Actions will be held on a regular, weekly basis in the city of Bogotá; analyzing threats and all actions against terrorism and organized crime, what we will be evaluating weekly, are all the blows to these criminal structures. Similarly, a special cell is determined to monitor financial movements, which can activate criminal mechanisms similar to those of this terrorist attack, identify the networks that also participated in it. It is important to highlight that the hypothesis that we have taken into account is that for this terrorist attack we chose to the model of criminal subcontracting”.

In the Security Council, the governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García and the mayor of Soacha, Juan Carlos Saldarriaga, were also present with these leaders, with these leaders, they seek to create an offensive against criminal operations in the region, because despite the fact that homicide rates have fallen, anxiety continues to be in the face of any type of crime. a terrorist act, for this purpose the increase in checkpoints in the main road corridors of the city and checkpoints on the outskirts of the city, Duque explained: “In joint work with the National Army and the Police, patrols will be carried out throughout the city and checkpoints will be implemented at all entrances and exits of Bogotá, increasing the foot of force with an additional 1000 police officers ahead of the elections”.

Sincerely, both the mayor and the president regretted the departure of the two minors who died of this criminal act, stating that all the forces of the State will do justice in this case, the president of the Colombians concluded: “We mourn this sad departure of Daniel and Salome, these crimes will not remain in the impunity, we are going after these criminals; and today I also want to call on the total support of the population for our public forces, this criminal attack that took the lives of those two children, was also aimed at attacking the structure of our Police, we are going to continue to face terrorism wherever it is, and the message is very clear to that bandit 'John Mechas', we're going after him.”
