Will Smith jokes after hitting Chris Rock at the Oscars: “You can't invite people from Philadelphia anywhere”

Actor Will Smith used his social networks to joke about what happened at the 2022 Oscars, but the response from his fans was not the best. As you recall, the actor slapped Chris Rock for mocking his wife's alopecia.

Through his Instagram account, Will Smith reappeared to comment on the embarrassing moment he starred in at the Oscars. However, he did it in a rather particular way, he decided to joke about it.

“You can't invite people from Philadelphia or Baltimore anywhere,” the actor wrote on his social network, where he can be seen with his wife doing different and funny poses.

Gone are the tears, a fairly spare Will Smith thus settled one of the greatest scandals in the history of the Oscars. However, it won't be that easy.

The reaction of users was not long in coming, and although it is true that they support the singer, asking him not to stop smiling a lot and highlighting that he did well to defend his wife, there are many other comments that reject the attitude of today's Oscar winner for Best Actor for King Richard.

“And to think I admired you! Not anymore!!” , noted one fan, while another wrote: “Since when is it okay to approach and hit someone just for talking.”

“Would you react that way if Mike Tyson had made the joke? No, you wouldn't. What a weak man you proved to be”, can be read in another commentary.

There are many fans who have been disappointed with the Hollywood star, however, Will Smith has decided to go ahead and pay no more attention to the criticism.

FORGET CELEBRATING YOUR OSCAR

After the Oscar ceremony was over, the performer celebrated with his family the recent victory at the Vanity Fair party. Raising his stake, he danced and jumped next to his wife, whom he defended from Chris Rock for having joked about her alopecia, a disease that Jada Pinkett has and talked about openly. However, she has also made it clear that this is a rather sensitive point for her.

The singer also met his audience who welcomed and embraced him, took selfies and celebrated the big night and his long-awaited achievement, the golden statuette.

Jaday and his children Willow, Jaden and Trey also didn't stop laughing and dancing while Will performed in front of the party's guests, where there were also Serena and Venus Williams, Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Dakota Johnson, Kevin Costner, Chris Pine, Olivia Colman and Natalie Portman. As it became known, Chris Rock was the great absentee of the night. Apparently he changed plans after receiving the tremendous slap in the face of the Prince of Rap.

The attitude contrasted very much the last reaction he had at the gala, where we saw him outside his box shouting at the comedian twice:b “Keep my wife's name out of your damn mouth”, right after slapping him. A Chris Rock just calmed down and stopped joking about Jada Pinkett's baldness.

WILL SMITH'S APOLOGIES

Will Smith apologized to the Academy during his thank-you speech after winning the Oscar for Best Actor for the film King Richard. Although he did not refer directly to the incident he had starred in minutes ago, the protagonist of King Richard gave an emotional speech that would have a lot to do with what happened.

Apparently, Smith and his family would not be having a good time after the illness that Jada is facing, so touching on the subject and more as a mockery is sensitive for the Smith Pinketts.

“I know, to do what we do, we have to be able to endure abuse. You have to be able to get people to talk crazy about you. In this business, you have to be able to get people to disrespect you,” said the actor in tears.

“You have to smile and pretend that's okay. But Richard Williams (his character in King Richard) and what I love, what Denzel [Washington] told me a few minutes ago: 'In your best moments, be careful, that's when the devil comes for you, '” he added.

Will Smith concluded by addressing the Academy. After apologizing, he said he hopes that he will be invited again next year.

THEY WANT TO TAKE AWAY THE OSCAR

The situation with Will Smith has gone further, as social media not only demand that Chris Rock bring charges for assault, but they also want his statuette back, as this attitude violates the Academy's new code of conduct drawn up in the wake of the #MeToo movement.
