This was the tribute that the community paid to the boy Daniel Duque, the first victim of the CAI attack in Bogotá

The strong explosion resulting from a terrorist attack in the town of Ciudad Bolivar left two children dead, 35 people injured and nearly 60 homes affected. The community in the south of Bogotá called for an end to the attacks against the civilian population

The attack that took place at the CAI Immediate Care Center, in Arborizadora Alta, gave solidarity to the community of Ciudad Bolivar. About 400 people gathered to carry out a eucharist in memory of Daniel Duque, a minor aged just 12 years old who lost his life due to detonation. With white balloons and candles, the neighbors rejected the violent acts in the south of Bogotá.

In the midst of the tribute paid to Daniel and the wounded who left the attack, it was said that the structure would have to be demolished, due to the state in which it was left, in order to build it again, under the tentative name of Daniel Duque, in honor of the minor who lost his life.

The child's father, Wilmer Duque, spoke of the tragic events that affected little Daniel: “My son was running an errand to his mother at the head of the CAI. He left around seven o'clock in the evening and his mother sent him and met death.”

Wilmer Duque deeply regretted the departure of his son and asked that justice not leave this regrettable case unpunished: “He was a good boy. The truth is he was an excellent boy and can tell both the community and the school where he studied. Unfortunately, because of this criminal gang out there, my son has lost his life. God forbid that justice grabs the criminals who took my son's life and destroyed my home.”

On the status of the investigation, the Major General of the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá, Eliecer Camacho, mentioned to RCN Radio: “What we do see in the videos is that a person places the briefcase, apparently with the explosives, near the CAI and leaves the scene. It activates it remotely. I had a chance of not causing so much harm to citizens, the CAI and the Police, but the rejection is total against these criminals who seek to affect the institution and the community in general.”

The uniformed man also sent a message to the family of little Daniel and the community of Arborizadora Alta who suffered the attack: “We have carried out some investigations against these criminal groups that affected the CAI and the tranquility of the citizens of the sector. It is better that we exercise caution with investigations in order to find the criminals,” said General Eliecer Camacho.

Finally, Wilmer Duque requested that they stop this kind of violent acts that destroy families and homes: “I tell those who do these violent acts to feel sorry for others. They destroy homes and families. Please stop the violence. Just as they destroyed my life, don't destroy it to anyone else”, concluded the father of little Daniel.

After the explosion was confirmed in the CAI of the Arborizadora Alta sector, in the town of Ciudad Bolivar, in southern Bogotá, Mayor Claudia López, Defense Minister Diego Molano, and President Iván Duque were present in the area.

The mayor wrote on Twitter: “We accompany the community of Arborizadora Alta, the victims and their families. We will not rest until we find those responsible.” And he also offered a reward of 300 million “to anyone who contributes information. With their collaboration we will find those responsible.”

This would be the second attack to occur in the town of Ciudad Bolivar so far this month. It is worth remembering that an explosive device was detonated on Saturday night, March 5, in the vicinity of a police station in the Sierra Morena neighborhood.
