The Colombian national team held their last training session prior to the match against Venezuela on the last day of the South American Qualifiers to Qatar 2022. The main objective of the rally these days is to be able to keep alive the illusion of getting the quota for the repechage to go to the World Cup.

The 'tricolor' trained in the morning at the Colombian Football Federation Sports Headquarters in Barranquilla. Juan Fernando Quintero, who presented an annoyance in the game against Bolivia according to Reinaldo Rueda's statements at the last press conference, worked with all the players. “In the field, the squad did a training session on team tactics and specific game strategy,” the FCF reported regarding the work of the national team.

Now, this Monday, the national team will travel to Puerto Ordaz for the game against Venezuela after having finished training and having enjoyed lunch. “The Colombia national team will train in the morning at the Colombian Football Federation sports headquarters, and after lunch they will leave for Puerto Ordaz where they will face Venezuela next Tuesday,” the press release added.

The match between national teams, valid for the last day of the South American Qualifiers, will be played this Tuesday, March 29 at 6:30 p.m. Colombian time, at the Cachamay Stadium. Remember that the coffee squad is obliged to win, but they will also have to wait for the results of Peru and Chile, which will play against Paraguay and Uruguay, respectively, in order to get a place in the repechage.

Faced with this, at the press conference prior to the engagement, Rueda spoke about how he sees the match against Venezuela and the legacy that José Pékerman implanted in the Colombian national team. In addition, he clarified that Colombia will focus on his match so as not to be distracted by what happens on other courts.

On the duel he commented that: “It's not easy, it's a high tension match because of all that it means to us. Venezuela will have the support of its fans and the work of Pékerman, with experience in all lines. This rival is going to demand us to the fullest in the midst of a climate of hostility. It will show the character and maturity of our Selection. We want to go to the World Cup, we must move this game forward. We are in a group stage against Venezuela, Bolivia and another rival (repechage), it is an evaluation that football is doing to us. If we have the mettle, we will achieve it.”

On the other hand, I talk about the role of the Argentine coach in the formation of some players of the national team that will be on Tuesday. “Speechless. We know of his brilliant career, since his beginnings in Argentinos, youth teams, the world championships with Argentina, what he brought us in Colombia, the rankings. There are plenty of words for the recognition of a person who has given us so much, experience and an important legacy. Respect and admiration even before arriving in Colombia.”

And finally, he said: “No one wants to get to such a situation, to depend on other results. Have the enthusiasm and motivation to achieve the goal. Before we had other alternatives that have been reduced. We depend on three vital results, we must do our thing, free ourselves with a good game, character and rebellion of our players.”
