“This is why you can't wash red clothes with white clothes”: the reactions to Sebastián Yatra's pink suit at the 2022 Oscars

The suit, by the Italian firm Moschino, was made by Jeremy Scott for the pre-autumn 2022 collection, is made up of three pieces: trousers, jacket and vest; however, the memes were not long in coming

This Sunday, the 94th edition of the Academy Oscars was held, and from a very early age there were several celebrities who gave something to talk about on the red carpet, both because of their name and the outfit they wore. One of them was the Colombian Sebastian Yatra, who was invited to represent Colombia performing 'Dos oruguitas', one of the songs belonging to the soundtrack of 'Encanto'.

And the fact is that Disney's film was one of the favorites to win the award for the categories of 'Best Animated Film' and 'Best Soundtrack, 'and although they managed to win the first category, they could not win the second; however, both Yatra's voice and first outfit attracted attention at the ceremony.

The pink color of his suit was very striking since his arrival at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, so much so that the memes were not long in social networks, especially Twitter, where some mentioned that he was “dressed as meringue” and even mocked the way he washes his clothes.

“It is clear that Yatra's son washed his lucky red cap with Sebastian's tuxedo”, were other reactions, and as expected, The Simpsons did it again predicting the singer's costume. Homer's pink shirt and Marge's Chanel suit were evoked, with the difference that the Colombian's outfit, apparently, was new.

On the other hand, one of the most anticipated shows at the 2022 Oscar Awards gala was that of Sebastián Yatra. He jumped on stage in a dark suit that was adorned with several yellow butterflies, consistent with his rendition of 'Two Caterpillars'.

The butterflies in the Colombian's outfit appear in the film in homage to the Nobel Prize for Literature, Gabriel García Márquez, but this time they symbolize the miracle of family union.

Although at some point the Colombian singer's nerves took its toll, his presentation of the song written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, nominated for the best original song of the night, touched the attendees of the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles and the millions of fans of the seventh art who watched the film around the world.

And it is that several users on social networks noticed that the singer was shaking the hand with which he held his microphone during the small concert; but despite the anxiety and emotion, it was one of the most applauded performances at the ceremony of the 94th edition of the Academy Awards.
