In the next few days, the trial will take place against the councilwoman of Cartagena, Gloria Estrada, who was caught with a drug load in her vehicle and who was granted House by Prison while she is given a final ruling. The case has been very controversial because despite the fact that one of the police officers who found the cargo was removed from office, although pending the judicial process, Councilman Cesar Pion announced that security cameras will be key in the trial.

According to what the politician said, the video material would be essential because in this way it could be verified that the woman is innocent and that they tried to frame her: “I don't know what could happen, but in the opinion of the colleague the cameras play and should play a very important role and not express, as stated here, that it was a problem clans, because people assume it. But cameras must play a very important role to be able to clarify whether or not they have responsibility,” Pion noted.

The information was confirmed to RCN Mundo, as Estrada's defense lawyer, Alfonso Montes, indicated that there is no doubt that the defense has an evidentiary collection, which plays an important role in the entire investigation where he starts from the fact that the councilwoman was charged with putting drugs in her car.

“It is our thesis to seek a revocation of the assurance measure that my clients Gloria Estrada and Martin Barreto have, logically so that in a future trial they have a preclusion of the investigation by the Prosecutor, with the elements that it itself will assess,” said the lawyer.

The fact

The capture of the then president of the Cartagena council, Gloria Estrada Benavides, took place on January 14 in the Manga neighborhood in La Heroica, the councilwoman was transported in a van advertising the liberal party concerning former president of the senate Lidio García Turbay, who is currently the top of the list of the aforementioned party.

Gloria Estrada, Martín Barreto, a political partner and music manager Avelino Villamizar, were transported in the vehicle.
