Fabian Pérez Hooker, who was known as San Andrés as Hety, would have been caused by an act of intolerance in which he was not the target, the Attorney General's Office reported.
Hety, “king of Creole”, was shot several times at his residence while talking with two other friends, and died 24 hours after the incident despite doctors attempting to move the musician to the center of the country to recover internal injuries.
For the Prosecutor's Office, the target of the attack was Hillbor Allen Pusey Rodriguez, a friend of Hety's, who was next to him when the shooting occurred. Pusey Rodriguez, along with Minerva Venecia Hooker James, were injured.
In taking stock of the facts, prosecutor Francisco Barbosa Delgado reported that the prosecutor captured Dixon Denzel Manuel Watson, alias “Pago”, whom he said was responsible for the events that shook the island.
In testimony collected by EL TIEMPO, Barbosa indicated that “Testimonial evidence, photographic examinations and technical inspections of the scene made it possible to identify alias “Pago” as the person who, apparently, was riding the motorcycle from which the attack on Hety and his companions took place.”
The events, which occurred in the La Zona neighbourhood — one of the most violent on the island — would be related to intolerance and would involve quarrels within this town.
“There was a prior agreement for the crime, the prisoner knew what he was doing,” stressed Barbosa, who questioned that the victim was defenseless when he was attacked.
In addition, according to EL TIEMPO, in the reconstruction of the events, he indicated that while the three people were talking in a house in the Mission Hill sector when they were attacked from a black motorcycle in which Pago and Joshua Smith Vargas were mobilizing. The latter would have told Pago that he saw Pusey Rodríguez on the spot.
Apparently, the barbecue man changed and it would be Joseph David Cadena, to whom the Prosecutor's Office attributed responsibility for the attack on Rodríguez and his companions. This subject was identified by the prosecution as responsible for Hety's death.
It should be noted that relatives of the artist indicated that the singer had never received threats in addition to having a long relationship of 15 years with Pusey, who rendered a free version before the Prosecutor's Office.
He acknowledged those who attempted his life, and that of Hety, and reported that he was part of the band alias “Ñoño”:
“Everyone knows what is going on in the area, there is a problem that comes more than seven years ago between my family and a band; they decided that everyone with the name Pusey was going to end them and that is the story.”
The key piece was Pusey's confession that Hety's death was involuntary: “those shots were against me, Hety had nothing to do with that gang or my family, they arrived, they fired indiscriminately”.
Alias “Pago” did not accept the charges made by the Public Prosecutor's Office, which is why he was sent to jail because of the risk he posed to society, as well as the seriousness of this caused a wave of protests in San Andrés Islas.
